We spent two nights here in July 2017. Overall, I had mixed feelings about the accommodation itself but the location was just about perfect.
If you're driving then this hotel is easily easily walkable (with a trolley case) from the Maria Novella station. Seriously important tip: if you are walking it then take the pedestrian underpass, it means that you can walk a third of the way on tiled floor, out of the sun and away from the traffic. We discovered this on the way back and wished we had known it on our way there.
Once at the hotel, you will find yourself right in the heart of the action. The Duomo was in view from our hotel room and no more than two or three minutes walk in one direction. The Uffizi was approximately the same distance in the other direction with the Ponte Vecchio just a couple of minutes further. It is also in comfortable walking distance of the gallery of academia but unless you feel you really must see the original statue of David then I'd give this one a miss (very disappointing).
The hotel itself is quite modern and reasonably well kept. Our room was compact but quite nicely decorated and had a small room off of it which was handy to use for our cases and kept the main room clutter free. It is not cheap to stay there and you don't really get that much for your money (very little in the way of facilities), but that's probably what you should expect in this kind of central location.
Breakfast was simple (as you come to expect in Italy) but there was some bacon sausage and scrambled egg to be had. It wasn't great but it was nice to have something cooked. The only real complaint about the place was the smell in the room. I haven't read any other reviews on here but expect other people will be complaining of the same (we heard another couple complaining at reception). They seemed to have some kind of plumbing issue and it was occasionally quite smelly in the bathroom. I suspect that this was a temporary problem and probably shouldn't put you off but read other reviews (especially older ones) to see if the problem is less transient.
As hotel's go, it was far from the best I've stayed in but it was comfortable, pleasant and ideally situated. If the plumbing problem is fixed then I'd recommend it on location alone.
