We had a wonderful stay. Staff were very helpful. There is even place to park for Euros7 a day. Very simplistic and not very imaginative vegan food options though but good food for others. The room and bed were comfortable and maid service available.Better reading lighting would be good and more pillows please.

We spent one week at Alex in April 2018.
As we made round trip through Tuscany (not only Florence but Pisa, Chianti, Barberino etc.) we decided to book Alex as our base station.
The main reasons to book it with breakfast included were its position and parking availability. With some minor remarks, we would like to suggest upper pointed facility as even first choice for stay in Florence in case your primary target would be: exploring, exploring and exploring :).
Here some short description which could help you to reach better overview about Hotel Alex.
Position
Position of Hotel Alex is just great: app. 3-4 minutes’ walk to train station Federiga and then only 10 minutes away from the Federiga to train station Santa Novella. Also bus stops in front of a hotel but we didn’t test this option. Tickets for trains are available on reception and they are very cheap.
Hotel surrounding is safe and quiet especially if you could book room oriented not directly toward street but those with balcony.
Room
Room we had was basic, quiet and simple but very clean and charming. TV, bathroom with hair drier and enough towels changed regularly were available.
Breakfast
Was quite good for us. We started everyday breakfast “procedure” with masterpieces ristreto or cappuccino: both were super delicious. It is free of charge and the machine making coffee drinks is functioning just perfect. Also fresh fruit, milk, ham, cheese, butter, boiled eggs, pastry products, croissant, jam, yoghurts, cereals, juices were available. Breakfast area is small but nice& clean with personal so polite and very welcoming one.
Service
Hotel Alex team (reception desk, cleaning ladies, breakfast room etc.) were so polite, friendly, always ready to help.

Despite all above mentioned pros here also some minor remark.
It is right that the park place is available and that is cheap too. But, unfortunately the same park place is used by restaurant guest from the restaurant close to. And just imagine, you are back after one day’s trip to Pisa and all park places are occupied. And on the next day the same situation????
It is not problem if you must wait 5,10 minutes to find the guest who is willing to relocate auto, but after 20-25 minutes it is somehow boring.
Therefore, dear Alex team please try to take care about your guests already booked park places little bit more.
Very clean, very friendly staff, great restaurant downstairs. Extremely easy to reach downtown by tram, tram tickets are sold in the reception. A little noisy from the traffic on the road in front, but the terrace rooms are quieter. Great choice!
I just came back from this hotel and I must say I was very satisfied with the choice. The hotel is a few minutes away from the tram stop (Federiga) and only 10 minutes away from the Santa Novella train station (it is the first and last stop of the tram). From there the historic part of the town is within a walking distance. The hotel is in a safe and quiet vicinity, so much better than being downtown. Considering Italian breakfast in hotels which is usually sweet, hotel Alex offers more choice, ham, cheese, tomatoes, boiled eggs, croissant, jam, cornflakes, etc. There is a lot to choose from. Most importantly, both my room and the dinning area were impeccably clean and new. it really helped me feel safe and comfortable. The receptionists were nice and polite, even provided a free razor after I realized I had forgotten it. Toiletries were provided daily, as well as new towels. A Lidl shop is a few minutes away (behind the hotel). Although they do not have a safe box, which made me uncomfortable with leaving money in the room, all was fine and I was told that it was completely safe. I enjoyed Florence so much partly due to excellent service at this hotel. All in all, a simple, new, clean hotel which is a great base if you plan to spend most of the day downtown exploring ever beautiful Florence.
The hotel is an average one, we had a large room, clean, but needed redecoration. The bathroom was large, also clean. The breakfast was poor, maybe the owner had to take into account to upgrade it beacause it is a shame that in well known culinary Italy you can not eat well at hotels. The parking place is very narrow, but is cheap and useful. It is close to city center via Tram.
