The location of the hotel isn’t too bad, it’s near the train station and also has buses nearby with a 15 minute walk into the main areas of Florence. I’d say next time I’d prefer to stay in the city centre as this hotel is a fair bit out of the way if you’re planning to explore the city. The room we had was very average, old and dark and our couch and walls were all stained with dirty marks which wasn’t too inviting. Breakfast was also average at best. I think this hotel is a 3 star hotel, a 4 is definitely pushing it.

Just two minutes walk from the main train station in Florence at Santa Maria novella, the Hotel Embassy could not be better located. Just a short walk and you are within reach of all the wonderful sights Florence has to offer. The room was clean, functional and comfortable and we enjoyed sitting out on our veranda when we were not out and about. The breakfast room was fully stocked in the mornings and the staff were friendly and most welcoming. If you want art and architecture, Florence is the city for you. The locals were friendly and the food was wonderful. we tended to avoid the most 'touristy' of places to eat (no pizzas'n'paninis) and there are plenty of choices. You won't need transport once you've settled in to the Hotel Embassy – everything is within walking distance, and that's the best way to see this most beautiful of cities. There is the Pisa Mover Tram if you want to venture further out and Pisa is not that far away. Of course everyone you meet is fluent in English, but you should try to speak Italian (download the Google Translate App to your phone) and you will be made most welcome. Buone vacanze!

Room tip: We booked the Superior room for a little more and had a 3 x 4 metre balcony/veranda.

This hotel was centrally located by train station and tour buses, which is convenient. Didn’t like the rooms, staff was marginally friendly. Even though it is convenient , not in a great part of town. I was disappointed, when you think of Florence, you think nice views, not so. On a positive note, the breakfasts were wonderful and that staff was super.

Recently returned from this hotel after a 4 day stay.
Firstly the positives - hotel is in a great location, near to the city centre, the train station and not far from the airport. There are some fantastic places to eat nearby too.
Our room was lovely, it was split in 2 with a separate room for our daughter and a separate bathroom. We had a fantastic - large balcony with a table and chairs - a massive bonus.
Now come the negatives. Shortly after arriving at the hotel, I fell down the stairs from the room to the balcony. The steps are poorly designed and injured my foot and ankle. Medical assistance was required. It was dark when we arrived and upon further inspection the following morning the light on the balcony was not working. This was reported to reception and informed of the incident - no interest. was shown and the light was never repaired.
On our first day when we returned to the hotel after a few hours we returned to our room and the door was wide open - we were opposite the lift and don’t know how long it had been left open or whether anyone went in to the room who shouldn’t have - housekeeping had been - the beds were made and room had been cleaned4. My partner and myself looked around for housekeeping but no one was in sight. Again, I went to reception and informed them our door had been left wide open. The man at Reception said our door was broken and it had been fixed. We were not informed of any repair and this did not explain why the door was left open. I kept asking why - all of our belongings were in the room and available for anyone to take - there is no CCTV in the corridors. Absolutely no interest was shown nor was an apology offered. I asked to see a manager, and told no one was available. We were told our details would be taken and the manager would contact us. We chased this again the following day - nothing ever happened. So the hotel must be ok with their staff leaving your door wide open.
The staff are rude and don’t do what they say they would.
The hotel has the basis to be brilliant - but the staff let it down. We did not like leaving the room unattended as our door was left wide open. I’m still hopeful that a manager may contact me - maybe address this at some point?
