Your don't come here for anything other than the beef, either as Bistecca Fiorentina or as Tagliata, both of which are done traditionally, and with expertise and a first class product.

Forget the tourist Florence, this is on a side road, off a side road, at the back end of Fiesole - so a car is essential. Nothing from the outside, and forget dim romanticism, this is true Italian meat eating done to perfection. Happy and efficient waitressing, a proper host, and on a Friday night, packed with locals out for their cholesterol dose of the weekend - but worth it every time.

Arrived at 8:30pm, and only just beginning to fill up. House wine is fine, if not exceptional. Incredible value for what you get.

Tullio is one of the last and more real Tuscan restaurant in Florence area
A must eat is the "antipasti misti" which is basically a main meal
Do not miss also the meat
Highly recommended not tourist trap

What a wonderful experience. If you want to go to dinner where the locals go this is the place. Reservations are needed. We went on a Thursday night and it was full. You can request inside or outside. I suggest outside if it is not to hot. We were staying near Florence, it is about a 20 to 30 minute drive. The restaurant is on a very arrow street lined with stone walls and greenery. Our host, who I think was the owner was very helpful when ordering dinner and amounts needed for 5 people. Be prepared to stay for for several hours. We had the anti pasta which was an assortment of different things like fried zucchini blossoms tht are out o thi orl n the liver pâté' were my favorites. We ordered the they are known for and it was very good. The seasoning was superb. My only complaint is that the steak was a little to rare which made it somewhat tough. We couldn't finish it all so we took it home and warmed it up the next dat and it was perfect.

A Florentine friend Took us here to show us a wonderful evening and during our 5 week stay in Florence it was our best evening and meal. Beautiful drive there as well. We loved the mista fritta verdua especially the sage leaves and squash blossoms. The liver crostini on polenta was ethereal and the Tagliata outshines any beef I have had in the states. This experience is the whole package touching all of the senses. Saddens me to think of all of the tourists eating at awful restaurants near the sites. This is the Italy to see. If they are open for lunch we will take bus 10 from Piazza San Marco to Settignano and walk the hills 25 minutes to the restaurant.

I brought a group of 14 Americans and 2 Italians here. I remembered that the meat was good from when I lived in Italy but this time it was truly exceptional and many said it was the best steak they had ever had. Even people who do not like to eat their meat rare ate it and enjoyed it. The fried polenta with chicken livers was also very popular with the group as well as the fried zucchini flowers and fried artichokes. After a lunch here we didn't even have to think about eating dinner and the price was right as well. If you go to Fiesole, this is a must, although the drive up from Fiesole is not for the faint of heart.
