Excellent day with beautiful views of the city of Florence. Stopped for lunch and at the Hotel Aurora - had toasted mozzarella on toast covered with mushrooms to share. We both had spaghetti with tomatoes and basil with beers. Very nice. Not too expensive and very pleasant staff.

This is a review of the restaurant not the hotel.Yes, the hotel is faded but just sit on the terrace and have lunch. This was one of the best meals I had during my stay in Florence.Spent three hours over a lazy lunch.service is not quick but go with it and enjoy the wonderful view. It's not cheap but we enjoyed every mouthful ad the wine was good and reasonably priced.A trip to Fiesola is an escape from the crowds of Florence....a stunning place.

We travelled to Fiesole as a large group for a friend's wedding, we picked this hotel based on it's location and having a pool for our hot late May 5 day stay.
The only positive thing to say about this hotel is the location, right in the middle of the square with plenty of restaurants to choose from, right next to the bus stop with a 20 minute transfer to Florence. We were here for a wedding and felt very central to everything and all our friends came to meet us where we were as in such a good location to everything. We stayed in a deluxe Florence view room and this honestly was outstanding, we spent a lot of time on our balcony taking in the incredible view!!
And now the negatives...
The pool was not open during our stay, apparently a seasonal pool but was due to be 30 degrees during our stay so expected it to be open, I sent a mail to the hotel two days before our trip to impart our disappointment about the pool closure and also it not being communicated to us before our stay and heard NOTHING back (still haven't!!). When we actually saw the pool, looked like it had not been open for years. CHECK BEFORE YOU BOOK THAT THE POOL IS OPEN.
Staff were very disinterested, we left our key at the desk every day and they barely looked up or acknowledged us. On passing the staff around the hotel we were the ones greeting them and they barely smiled.
Breakfast (included) was the bare minimal and I went off it more every morning of our 5 day stay as saw the same things coming out everyday and looked like the left overs from the day before rather than new platter put out everyday.
The outside terrace restaurant has so much potential with views over Florence but it was as if they didn't care, plastic chairs and tables, unswept, food was pretty diar too.
We were here for a wedding with a very large group, this hotel was perfect for the location alone, so much potential but it really was as if they had let the hotel go and just didn't care. Very sad to see.

Room Tip: Check that the pool is open. Book the balcony room. Use it as a base but not to spend too much time...

We had lunch few days ago in this Fiesole "old lady".
Great view and that is all about!
A really shame!
The waiter tried to do his best but still the aperol spritzer took 1/2 hour to arrive at our table! The place was quite almost asleep for lunch time! Only another table occupiedThe starter with a caper se salad very poorly presented(a Tuscan mixed cold cuts.....(..average quality!) My family lives in Fiesole and I know Tuscan food very well; nothing else to say..... Position second to none...... The rest needs a big shaking up from the top to the bottom!

Room Tip: We went to the restaurant for lunch so therefore our judgement is limited to the dining room experie...

First of all, the price and star rating is ridiculous for what you actually get. Yes, the view is gorgeous (not from the hotel itself since trees are in the way) but other than that there's nothing else to offer. They offer free breakfast, but the breakfast is literally one small table laid out in the dining room with tables still dirty from previous guest, not to mention it's very un-appetizing, the staff won't acknowledge you unless you get their attention. The hotel itself needs work, the walls look like they're falling apart, not to mention the smell. The room was a joke. The paint was chipping, the bed is literally a folded out spring bed with a pathetic "mattress" and "pillow" making it very uncomfortable. The window opened up to the blue bar next door so if it's open everyone and their mother can physically see inside your room. They need to update the hotel or lower prices and lower the star rating because it's no where near an actual 4-star hotel.

After all I wouldn't recommend this hotel unless you want an overpriced 2!-star hotel.
