We only had a one night stay here. Our room was small but comfortable with great art and furnishings. We were in the "Frida" room which is on the second floor and has the balcony as shown in the hotel's picture. FYI, there is no elevator. A shout out to Claudia-she is a great host!

Lucca was quite a surprise. As walled cities go, this one is very different. The walls are massive, large enough to drive trucks on. We enjoyed wandering streets and getting lost in the narrow alleys.
Albergo San Martino is a nice little hotel. Note that it doesn't have an elevator. Our room was small and the bed was hard, but it was clean and sufficient for our needs. The staff was very friendly and helpful. It's a bit difficult to reach by car and we had a bit of a problem driving to the hotel, Beware of the "forbidden zone." We were directed to turn into this area and are still waiting to receive our fine!

I stayed at Albergo San Martino for 5 nights in November 2017. My room, which I shared with a friend, was in the annex (as I believe they called it). It was lovely, with plenty of space for two of us (with all our luggage!), with a nicely appointed bathroom. The wall paintings and tile floors were particularly nice features. We enjoyed the ample breakfast each morning; it featured cakes, pastries, bread, cheese, meats, juice, fruit, yogurt, eggs, and more. The staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating, which made the experience even more enjoyable. Lucca is a wonderful city that I hope to return to, and I will definitely stay at the Albergo San Martino again.
