It is accompanied by historical dioramas and a fascinaating timeline of the town's history.A new and exciting activity through the streets of the medieval town, solving puzzles, riddles and pitfalls. The protagonists will receive a kit that includes a map of the city as it was in the 1300s, a pen and a 14 page booklet where they will find not only the riddles for the hunt but also detailed explanations on all the towers that still exist today,on the 4 “Contrade” or neighborhoods and the most important families of that period. The treasure hunt is available in Italian, English and French.

This is a model of San Gimignano in 1300, The model is excellent and you can pick out some things that still exist today. There was also an explanation of the Contrada on the wall.
Very nice, if expensive, gift shop.
The exhibition is free but donations are welcome.

San Gimignano 1300 museum is located close to the Duomo piazza and bell tower. It is a small one room affair which has been a labour of love where artisans had recreated a 3D model of the town. It was quite an impressive work and filled the entire room. Worth a look and its free of charge.

Try not to miss a visit to this ancient town with seven or more towers. From afar, it looks like the skyline of a city. Interesting shops,an old cathedral and towers within the city wall. Has lots of history and vineyards along the way. Can also combine a winery visit and lunch on this trip. Day trip from Florence will be good.

Sadly we didn't quite have the same experience as all the other 5 star reviewers. I think it maybe that the staff were busy attending to a group, so we didn't really get much of an explanation of the town so although the modelling was nice, we didn't really know what we were looking at.

We discovered this quite by accident but so pleased that we did as it provided another dimension to understanding the history of the town and how it was.
