Situated just outside the main gates of the town, with mostly local customers in the morning, but still very tourist friendly, this was a lovely place to grab a sandwich and coffee. It had a slight vintage feel with old music playing and some posters on the wall. Gorgeous views out the window too.

We just paid a quick morning visit here before setting off on our hike to Monteriggione, but the overall impression was a positive one. It’s a cool little Beat-style bar just in front of the main gate into town, a nice easy-going contrast to the temple to rampant consumerism that San G has become, beautiful though it still is in many ways. Not that the bar was all that cheap itself. But our soyaccinos were smooth and creamy and the croissants great, especially the apple & cinnamon ones. We got some sandwiches for our hike too, and they were also delicious – pecorino with sun dried tomatoes in one and with mixed veg (mainly peppers) in the other, in huge slabs of freshly made, crusty bread, sliced and well-wrapped for the journey. After 14 km, we really enjoyed tucking into them, despite the lack of picnic facilities along the way. I saw some menu suggestions on the wall which looked like there might be tasty veggie dishes at mealtimes too, but we didn’t have time to try them.

I only had Aperol spritz there but it was amazing, it's one of my favorite drinks and there it was just PERFECT!
