Friendly, easy-going atmosphere, fresh food, excellent price ratio.
They serve platters of ham and cheese and have different vegetables. I'd recommend the cheackpea salad with mozzarella and herrings. Another must is the "finocchiona di cinta senese"!

We loved this place. It is small and there are few choices. But the food is excellent and it was so cheap! The antipasti was fantastic and the pasta was also supergood.

Fantastic experience. Restaurant full of locals, we wanted to eat in a place used by locals so as to have an authentic experience. They were very busy, but welcoming. Food simple but tasty.

We ate here three times in two weeks after stumbling upon it on our fourth night and we've stayed longer we would have been back.
This Osteria claims to be the oldest in Siena and there is an article from the Times on the wall mentioning it pre-eurozone.
Don't go here if you want a menu or an extensive wine list; they don't have either of these.
Do go here if you want an authentic experience, good honest local food and wine. The choices are limited; a plate of assorted cold meats, cheeses and vegetables for starters followed by a pasta dish, normally spaghetti or papparedelle with a choice of three sauces. The house wines come out of five gallon flagons and are exceptional value and taste just as good as 25 euro bottles we had in other restaurants.
Do be prepared to share a table especially of you sit inside. There are three tables seating around twenty. There are more tables outside but if you sit outside you miss the authentic atmosphere.
And the price; where we were averaging 80 euros for an evening meal in other restaurants in Siena here we were never charged more than 40 euros. Embarrassingly cheap for the quality of the food and wine.
There are a lot of good restaurants in Siena but none that rival this for price or authenticity, if I were a local this would be a regular haunt.

Very popular with local people. Went in a group of 7 and they looked after us really well. They did us a mix of meat, cheese, veg and pasta and it was fantastic.
