Case Brizi was as good as we had hoped for their very high ranking on Trip Advisor and Booking.com.
They are smack in the middle of Assisi on a corner. We got lost getting there but Rita guided us bit by bit on the phone til we arrived with their arms waving as we finally made it up the hill through the throngs of tourists. We parked our care where it remained untouched for another 4 days. (OK we were paying $100 per day but in Assisi the attractions are all around you and they were world class!
When we arrived Roberto broke out a bottle of lovely light "rosso" (red) wine and we literally drank in being in the middle of an incredible city that ranges from 300---2300 years old. Externally there is no sign of anything newer on show in Assisi.
We loved our room, recently renovated by Roberto with frescoes on the ceiling! OK, he's not Michelangelo but it was very good and I can't say I know any builder in Australia or anywhere but Italy who can turn their craft to include ceiling artwork! WOW.
Rita offered us the the suite (for a small extra cost), overlooking the middle of town where our view from the kitchen includes a few 1300 AD frescos on the opposite wall (sadly they were fading from the sun).
The breakfast was excellent but leaned towards pastries, so I brought my own gluten free cereal which I had in the room beforehand. A morning highlight was Lorenzos coffee in the morning which was the best we have had in Italy so far. They also had some good cheese and whole fruit which I enjoyed and my wife enjoyed the pastries.
If you're interested in Case Brizi be sure to book beforehand if you're going during the season. We were there during the shoulder season, and it was pretty busy. Assisi is packed with day trippers but about 4 pm they all disappear and the restaurants and shops get serious about catering for the remaining people and we had some lovely meals and a lovely time. But lunch is chaotic for the most part unless you venture to the outskirts in which case a good quiet meal is possible.
We found Rita, Roberto and Lorenzo to all be excellent. Rita has the best English but the men overcome any language difficulties with their enthusiasm.
