In a dead end street up towards the castle is the marvelous Trattoria Da Erminio that we stumbled upon for lunch today. Wish suggestions for local dishes from Federico we had a great dining experience. The charm and warmth of and open fire across the room added to enjoyment as we watched part of our meal be prepared. A barley and mushroom soup was just the thing for a chilly and rainy day. The local ham cut from the bone with focaccia and olive oil were a treat. The capaletti with a traditional white meat sauce rounded out our meal that was one of the most reasonably priced on our trip. The house red wine was a nice choice to round it all out. Can't wait for a trip back to Assisi to try it again.

We odered the meals. We haven't got the same time the foods. For example, we have had the meat and later the potato.
Nothing special and outstanding.

Our first meal in Assisi was Trattoria da Erminio. Based upon Rick Steves’ recommendation we made our uphill walk and were welcomed with a simple elegance. This is a family business and they couldn’t have been more helpful. The food and wine were outstanding and you can be sure we will return here again. Ciao.

The 7 of us (3 couples from the US and the best guide in Umbria Alessandra Pettinelli) dined here for lunch on October 4th the Feast of St. Francis. Even though the food and service were good, we felt the restaurant overall had slipped a little compared to 4 years ago. The tortellini with sausage was good but I wish it had been hotter. The mixed grill was also very good. The lasagne although different from the others we had was good. The steak was also good. The problem was nothing was really great!

The best part about this restaurant is that it is reasonable and away from the maddening crowd!

A deliciously rustic family run Umbrian trattoria where the house special is the open fire grill , good for a variety of meats but I especially love the grilled chicken. With a good local pasta to start , an excellent lunch. Good service , friendly environment. Have been a number of times and never disappointed!
