In a dead end street up towards the castle is the marvelous Trattoria Da Erminio that we stumbled upon for lunch today. Wish suggestions for local dishes from Federico we had a great dining experience. The charm and warmth of and open fire across the room added to enjoyment as we watched part of our meal be prepared. A barley and mushroom soup was just the thing for a chilly and rainy day. The local ham cut from the bone with focaccia and olive oil were a treat. The capaletti with a traditional white meat sauce rounded out our meal that was one of the most reasonably priced on our trip. The house red wine was a nice choice to round it all out. Can't wait for a trip back to Assisi to try it again.
