We stayed here for 2 nights & couldn't fault a thing. The hotel has an old world charm that gets lost sometimes in modern hotels, but makes for a great stay. Our room was really comfortable with views over the rooftops, and so clean. The gardens hidden around the hotel are magical and we spent a lovely couple of hours nibbling our wares from the market with a cold bottle of wine in the garden on level 3, it was heaven! The staff were all friendly & attentive & we would especially like to mention Azzurra who made our stay extra special. The location for breakfast and drinks was without question the best in town! We loved Gubbio and we ARE coming back to stay at Hotel Relais Ducale.

Stayed at this hotel. as the previous reviewer said Great location, a bit tired. The bathroom didn't look the way it does in the picture. We had a leaking shower rose which spewed water all over the floor. I had a serious fall and cracked my ribs on the bidet on the way down. The receptionist changed the shower rose and we rigged up a makeshift solution to make it a bit better. The plumber wasn't called the next day. The whole situation was - Too bad, so sad. Don't go for room 216

The location is fantastic and basically inside Palazzo Ducale.
The main entrance is in the square with Palazzo dei Consoli...stunning!
Unfortunately the look of the hotel is very dated...and old fashioned...so many rooms empty...
The wall between rooms are very thin...you con hear people talking from the room next door.
Too many stairs...the hotel reception is on the first floor thru the bar in the Piazza.
Our room was on the third floor without lift...a bit annoying.
The Wi-Fi is not working....not sure why....in anycase the atmosphear is very intense and magic!

The position is lovely, right at the back of the beautiful suspended square. Apparently it was a focal point of an Italian TV show and there are pictures of scenes and actors from this.
The staff are very nice and friendly and the Aperol Spritzer was ok, but served with microwaved cocktail sausages in pastry and other savories. The potato chips were not crunchy so we avoided those too. We would have cheerfully paid more for better, and fresher, quality.
