Location- location- location!!! Walk across from train station--- take Minimetro from bus station to Fontevegge and walk a block to hotel. Location to strain station is great for day trips to--- Venice--- assisi-- Arezzo. Walking distance from hotel to Minimetro--- supermarket---- Mc Donslds across the street!! Front desk staff very helpful with local attractions------ and free breakfast with expresso of Capochino----- best choice my wife and I made on our trip across Italy--- stayed a week and enjoyed everything!

We have just come back from a great trip to Perugia to the Umbria Jazz festival. Found this hotel online & didn't know for sure what to expect.
The hotel had a lot to say for it - near train station, close to mini-metro, handy to rest of the city. The staff were extremely helpful despite our dreadful lack of any Italian. Yes, the rooms are a little basic, but it is listed as a 2 star, so expected this. They were clean, tidy and most importantly, had air con (35 C on day we arrived!).
Breakfast, too, was fine. Fairly typical, I would expect. Better than other places been to in other parts, particularly Rome.
Overall, highly recommended. Well done, folks. My wife says she'd go back - high praise!

We only stayed one night and chose the Astor Hotel for its proximity to the train station. We had a large room with ample space and beds for our two children. The room was very clean with nice sheets and the air con was a welcome relief from the heat outside. Our room faced the station. We could hear cars but it wasn't a bother. The staff were very friendly and showed us the Mini metro which was 5 minutes walk away. From there we could access the gorgeous old part of town. We had dinner there and wandered around. It was stunning and the highlight of our trip. Breakfast at the hotel was good. My cappuccino was excellent. All in all, this is a basic hotel but it has everything you need and you can't beat its location for train station access and to the mini metro.

Stayed here may 2015. nice clean friendly hotel. breakfast ok. Hotel is basic but very good for the price.3rd time here.
Very good for station and buses for other areas just across the road.
Airport transfer. be careful mini bus drops you off right in front of the station, the return journey the pick up is across the road to the left next the building with round pillars. there are not signs or direction for this.

I needed an inexpensive hotel for one night when I arrived in Italy, on my way to the Le Marche region the next day. The Astor Hotel was directly across a small piazza from la stazione, a welcome sight after travel from the U.S. to Rome, then train to Perugia. It was clean, with very helpful staff, and with a small, inexpensive restaurant right next door. The area around the station is a little sketchy at night, so the restaurant was a bonus. I walked into Perugia centrale the next day, a great uphill walk with escalators ascending into the preserved medieval city, before arriving in the current, hilltop city. I recommend this hotel!
