We stayed at this hotel as part of our tour group and found the lobby, patio, grounds and facilities were beautiful. The rooms were a little older and modest but nothing bad it was still very nice just very simple. The bathroom configuration was a little odd but it was nice to have 2 separate rooms when my husband and I were getting ready. Beds a little on the hard side. The lobby bar area and outdoor patio were amazing. We would stop in the evening for a cocktail before we walked along the water into town which only took about 10 minutes. Or you could grab the bus right in the from the hotel into town. Very convenient location.

We had a nice stay at this hotel. Our room was on the top floor but the draw back to that was the low, angled ceilings. Beds were comfortable and it was nice and quiet for us to keep our windows open for fresh air. It is about a 20 minute walk to the city center but if wanted, there was a bus stop just outside the hotel entrance. There is a lake across the street and it made for a nice walk along the lake to the city center. Breakfast at the hotel was very good with lots of items to select from. Our shower was an experience with the slanted ceilings but we just sat on the tile bench so as to not bump our heads.

Part of our Gate1 tour. I loved the character. There is no air conditioning but it was not necessary in Oct. Included were bus passes to get to and from city center which was nice. Loved the location on the lake. Dinner was included with the Gate1 tour. It was not memorable but was ok. We had choice of chicken (average) and fish (good). The spinach tortellini was the best thing we had. The room was basic and clean. The bathroom was spotless. The bed was a little hard. The breakfast buffet was good. I would stay there again.

This is our second time in Lucerne but our first time staying at the Europe. The hotel is located with in walking distance of the water. It is a lovely hotel but old! Our room was lacking the amenities travelers would like in their rooms. The bed was two twins shoved together to make a queen leaving a gap in the middle. I am glad we were physically fit because getting in and out of the shower/tub would have been difficult for someone who wasn't because you have to step up into it. Chipped paint and repaired cracks everywhere. Our view was of a back alley that had a run down green house and trash cans...noise. The employees were very accommodating and breakfast was fine. Bottomline...I would never go back...

Room Tip: Stay away from the back of the hotel and/or the center

This hotel was good. Close to the Lake and within a 15-20 minute walk to old town. Staff seemed nice but at times put out. Restaurant was great and wonderful staff. Food was delicious. Breakfast buffet was ok (loved the potatoes). Loved being able to open windows at night to let in cool air but didn't like hearing staff yelling in alley.
