We stayed here for three nights in September and although the weather wasn't great we had the best time.

Beautiful location, fantastic hotel, friendly & helpful staff, could not have asked for more!

Our room was lovely, we had a mini sauna inside & huge bath. It felt very luxurious.

The restaurant was also a highlight, exceptional food and wine.

We booked the summer mountain package which included a picnic to take on a hike - which we had by a lake up in the mountains, it was very special.

We would definitely come back, could not fault it.

Great service! We arrived at the tram station very late so I called and they had a cab waiting for us. It's a remote location but we'll worth it. Lots of great detail like hand written welcome, clean rooms, great menu! And they held our bags while we wandered and shipped them to the team station to meet us for our journey home.

We've been there in June. Our room was nice, rather small, the service good.
The wellness area was disappointing, with a weak outside jacuzzi, and a too cold steam room (we didn't try the sauna). The breakfast was average, the dinner seemed appealing (but we had other engagements).
We were surprised to see we would have paid 15% less using a booking service instead of the hotel's own site (and you can probably add the same amount as a commission), and I don't think that brought us any advantage.

Room tip: Most of the rooms do not seem to have a view of the Matterhorn.

We stayed at the Mattihol for two nights in August and it was simply fantastic. Well we stayed in various hotels around the world but never had a sauna in the room. Yes, private sauna which was just perfect after a long hike.

On the arrival day we were picked up at the train station and driven by one of those battery cars to the Hotel. At the check in we were greeted by the GM Patrick who offered us a check in at the bar with a local Zermatt beer which was excellent.

The second night we had dinner at the restaurant which was up to the high standard of the hotel. Try their saibling cooked on wood which is excellen!

Can't recommend this hotel more as it's just fantastic to wake up and see the Horu.

Thank you for the fantastic stay and look forward to see you soon Patrick.

Room tip: Get a Spa room with a privat sauna

Matthiol is literally at the end of Zermatt (towards the Matterhorn), which means a 25 minutes walk to town. Fortunately, they offer free transfers upon arrival and departure. The setting is wonderful, they have a small lawn in front of their building where we had breakfast and dinner outside. Unfortunately, you can only see the Matterhorn from the upper floors and not from the lawn. Their staff was very kind and friendly, we also very much enjoyed the (small but good) breakfast and also had dinner twice in their restaurant. The best was our room, with its own small sauna and a small hamam integrated into the shower. They have a small wellness area and an outside jacuzzi as well, but our own had views of the Matterhorn and we thus preferred that compared to the slightly dark common spa area. We also made extensive use of the free-standing bathtub in our room that had an excellent Matterhorn view as well. Overall, this place is wonderful if you book one of these spa rooms. If you don't, I would probably prefer a place closer to town that has a bigger common wellness area, i.e., also with a pool.
