We stayed at the Tralala for 1 night in February as part of a short break, after 2 nights over the border in Annecy, France. We found the hotel in the steep back streets of Montreux fairly easily, following the helpful brown "Tralala Hotel" signs from the main road, after a visit to the beautiful Chateau de Chillon. On arrival we were offered complementary drinks which was a nice touch.
Parking was a bit of an issue - especially as when we were there, the streets were piled with snow, so it was hard to find clear spaces on the streets! Therefore we opted for the Tralala's own allocated parking space behind the hotel, but this set us back 15CHF for the night, so not cheap!
Our "Small and Sexy" room (304) was just that - comfortable, trendy and very tight around the bed, with no space for storage! A few coathangers were suspended above a long shelf which spanned the whole width of one end of the room under the window, which could be hidden behind a floor to ceiling curtain. Original but not very practical. Ok for a night or two if you don't mind living out of a suitcase! Bathroom was modern with toiletries provided and hairdryer, but again small with little shelf space.
The hotel decor was modern and funky - black and white design in the corridors etc with musically themed design and pictures. Trendy bucket chairs in the foyer looked inviting but we were worried we wouldn't get out of them again after our skiiing exertions!
Breakfast was served on the ground floor with a small buffet selection of ham, cheese, boiled eggs, bread and croissants, along with juice and hot drinks.
By reception was a PC where you could surf the internet for free - very handy for checkiing emails, train times etc when away - why can't all hotels offer this service!
We found a lovely little cellar restaurant just 5mins walk away - Le Museum in Rue de la Gare - highly recommended for their Swiss speciality dishes - see our separate restaurant review.
Overall a quirky good value option when visiting chic Montreux.
