Based on the trip advisor reviews we took some friends for lunch. The duck was well done and tasted well. Also the pork belly was good in taste. However it failed to impress me as I was anticipating the Wow factor. Service is good and atmosphere is lively.

Thank Harry V

We have heard great things about The Cellar and were awaiting our visit with great anticipation. We booked for a birthday and went with some friends to celebrate. Sadly it did not live up to our expectations.

We were seated on the converted patio next to the pool. This was our first irritation as the booking was made 6 weeks in advance and we had explicitly requested a table inside. The inside tables were not full. It was a miserable evening and patio was cold and cramped and overall lacked any atmosphere.

Three of us ordered the duck tortellini starter. While the presentation was beautiful, the dish was disappointing. There was a lot of water in the tortellini, the duck was bland and cold in the center. I ordered the calamari and chorizo which had exactly one slice of chorizo and was edible but nothing special.

The waiters were ok but did not know menu well. When we complained about the cold and soggy starters we were told that they would inform the chef but heard nothing further.

The fillet main course was the best thing on offer. The steak was well prepared and the chip ribbons were unusual. There was a curry sauce which was good. The pork fillet was not enjoyable though. The port fillet was overcooked and dry. The pulled pork spring roll was also dry and very bland. The ponzu dressing was very sweet and jammy-not the citrusy sauce I expected!

We enjoyed the wine selection and the ice cream for dessert was good with an interesting assortment of flavors.

Overall, there were good points but it was very hit and miss. For a restaurant in the price range and with this reputation we did not find it good enough.

We stayed over at the Honeywood Lodge and so we went for supper 2 nights. When you walk in you think just another ordinary little restaurant...and then you are blown away by a hurricane, to say the least! From the extremely friendly and well-trained staff, good selection wines, well priced. The oh my gosh the food, lamb risotto, the pork belly and the duck was just amazing! And as for the few hand picked desserts!! 5 different home made ice cream, like basil flavor and the cream brulee. They were packed the Friday lunch time with their lunch time special. Such a lovely venue!
