On a street filled with large restaurants with outdoor seating, this small restaurant does not stand out with its single door. Look for the big yellow sign above the door. We have eaten here twice and both times were delicious. My husband loves the beef with cashews dish and I like the chicken in a sweet and sour sauce. The only problem I had was when we ordered this last time we asked if vegetable fried rice came with the dinners we ordered, and were told it did. Then when we went to pay the bill, there was an additional charge of 3.50 Euros per person for it. It could have been a language barrier, and everything else was good. We'll definitely return. They also have free wifi, so that was a plus also.

Great authentic Chinese restaurant, very good specialized in overall Chinese food, chef is from Sichuan so they do great food from there as well. Ask for the Chinese menue's if you like to try something else. They have a great 2 person menu with seafood and duck for about 30 euro a person. Good hotpot and northern Chinese food as well.

We opted for Lee Ka Chu purely based on its proximity to the central Leidseplein area. We went in during a quiet period (it was about 8pm) with just a couple of large Chinese family groups eating when we arrived. The food was delicious and in generous portions – so, good value for what it was – but the service was awful. There were two waitresses serving us, both in their late 20s/early 30s, and one of them clearly did NOT have time for two young English people just looking for a quiet meal. As soon as we sat down, we had the menus shoved under our noses and she loitered nearby while waiting for us to decide. About 30 seconds passed, we hadn't decided, but she returned to ask us for drinks. We ordered a couple of beers. She asked if we were ready to order food, we said no, and she threw me the dirtiest look. She then returned seconds later with our beers, slammed the bottles onto the table and then poured them out into glasses for us, though we'd rather she hadn't as she, unbelievably, tipped the bottles vertically and poured them straight down into the glass. You don't need to be a bartender to know that's just not OK.
Anyway, food came. It was delicious, but we felt like we were being rushed to eat it as the waitress kept hovering near us, asking if we were ready. There were no pleases or thank yous from her at any point, and once she realised we'd both finished she came and silently took our plates away (I still had food left on mine, so surely she should have asked me if I had finished?). Needless to say, we didn't leave a tip. Would never return to this dump.

Rice is amazingly well-cooked, food is perfect. There is a real Chinese atmosphere, with traditional dishes.

The place to eat in the Leidseplein area.
there are no good restaurants close to the Leidseplein, mostly touristy and pricey. But taste of Culture is full of Chinese people eating Chinese food!!! I think I told you enough.
