Description: Winkel 43 is located on the Noordermarkt. It's in the heart of the Jewish quarter the ‘Jordaan’, which is known for its friendly and relaxed atmosphere. Because of its privileged location you'll be able to enjoy your coffee or lunch on our terrace on sunny days all year round. Winkel opens early in the morning till late at night. In the area our homemade apple pie became a general well known delicacy. Therefore tasting a slice is considered a must.

Service a little slow, but it is a small shop with lots of customers! Reputation precedes it. The apple pie is amazing, so good that we went twice in the five days we were in Amsterdam, a must if you're visiting. Huge slice of apple pie, buttery pastry, almost cake like, generous portion of whipped cream on the side, the plate is almost too small for the pie and cream. Delicious!

I’m not always the most patient person, especially before breakfast and coffee but this was WORTH THE WAIT.

Walking up the line will seem overwhelming because it was out the door and starting to wrap around the corner. What you see outside is pretty much the entire line because you order just inside the door. They are good at putting out a ton of pies and coffees so it goes fast.

Getting a spot to sit may be more difficult. My wife and I got lucky just as we ordered a spot at the bar opened up. There is ample room outside so depending on weather you’ll probably be fine.

Don’t waste your time ordering anything other than Apple Pie. That’s what they’re known for and why the line is always long. If you are an American Pie connoisseur expect it with a Dutch twist.

If it were closer to our hotel we probably wouldn’t have ever had anything else for breakfast during our stay.

Thank Jason M

Located in Jordaan, this corner bakery bar and restaurant opened since XX century, offers a fresh and seasonal menu of sweet delicacies and local treats. Parking for bikes and cars available around, WiFi, bathrooms, non-accessible for wheelchair. The simplicity of the place, enlightened and filled up with wooden furniture gives it charm and authenticity, away from cliché and fancy café. Non-smoking indoor and smoking outdoor seats on the terrace. Very popular for its apple pie, you can expect to wait up to 30 minutes for a table, busier between 11.00 and 15.00. Staff is available, fast and smiley, despite the rush. Ambience is friendly and fuzzy, and as lots of places in Amsterdam. Skipping waiting for a table by asking for joining strangers’ table is very common thing, try it!
Apple pie with wiped cream is their best seller, light and savoury with its cinnamon and raisin notes, melty apple cuts and the crunchy thick paste. Fondue of cheese served in a bread bowl is creamy, perfect texture and balance of fat, or salt, pepper and other spices.
Average experience is EUR30 inclusive of food and beverage, apple pie is EUR4, average meals are EUR10.
Winkle is suitable for solo foodie, friends, couples and families with children and teenagers. Winkle does not accept bookings. I do not recommend this place for groups above 5 persons.
No specific dress code applied.
I recommend Winkle for breakfast, lunch, brunch or afternoon tea in Jordaan Amsterdam, their quality of the services and food.
Enjoy my Epicureans!
