we came here and just found the place very repetitive and slightly boring !! i felt at like 18 euros it was pricy to get in, back home in the uk this sort of place would be free to get in . maybe i just dont understand art but as a whole just walking around Amsterdam for day looking at the buildings etc is more beautiful and interesting !

Thank Rosie I

Worth a visit as full of great artwork including Van Gogh’s and Rembrandt’s and a good historical and cultural Dutch experience.

You don't have to be the world's biggest art fan to have an incredible day out. Very eclectic collection spread across a large footprint. We spent Christmas Eve here one year and easily passed 5 hours and felt we didn't see everything we would have liked to. I'd strongly recommend prioritizing the areas you especially want to spend time or you can get sucked into an Ikea style wander around with no real purpose, (as we did). Not that this is an especially bad thing, but you want to get the best of your time. More fun going on days with fewer people so you can see the larger pieces unobstructed. Save some time to wander around the grounds and have an ice cream, tea or beer. There's often lots to see out behind the building, including the I AMSTERDAM sign which is a great photo opp! So easy to get to by tram, (or walk), and well worth walking around the direct area and choosing out some other activities for another day. Van Gogh Museum, Musee, Vondelpark, Diamond Museum or a wander along to Leidseplein. We tend to organize our trips around being in this neighborhood now. This is our central pin for Amsterdam!

The Rijksmuseum is one of the finest museums I've ever seen. Their collections and exhibits are world-class, and truly exceptional. I highly recommend going there...

There are a couple audio tours and the "Highlights" tour is incredibly difficult to follow and has you going from one end of one floor to the opposite end of another and back again. So while i recommend the audio tour, do one of the more complete ones. But dont skip this even though its a "typical" tourist attraction.
