Great little hotel - looks run down from the outside but updated inside and room I was given was large and had an updated bathroom - very comfortable and located close to the square, rijksmuseum, heineken factory tour, lot's of restaurants, theaters etc.. steps away. Great value above all, if you're interested in seeing the city for up to 2 days, why waste the $$ staying at a fancy place when this one is a great base for exploring as long as you get a great deal - I paid $63/night w/ taxes

Room Tip: ask for an updated room away from main street

The hotel is well located for any further exploration. There was one rude receptionist who greeted us with a - are you deaf. This was so as this is the first hotel we have come across which has a bell that has to be pressed. Since we pressed it twice this paunchy man got wild and yelled at us- are you deaf. How were we to know that one has to press the door after the buzz is heard. But, after that he was quite kind and helpful when we showed our displeasure though he thought nothing wring in what he said. He gave good tips on how to save money and showed us the way to vegetarian restaurants. the room was tiny as was the lift. the room was too small for the money that was paid. the breakfast was adequate though the waiters were keen that you chose your option of tea and coffee when you sat down and not call them later. But the location is very good as you can walk to any aprt of the city- the dam square or the Van Gough muesuem or anywhere for that matter. Tea and coffee is on the house between 10 and 8 pm. But you ahve to sit at the bar and not the tables which are meant for brakfast. Looks like that they have few staff to clean up. worth visiting even though the paunchy man will yell at you.

Room Tip: good place to stay though not value for money

My boyfriend & I really liked this hotel, it was in a great location. Right near the Leidseplein which has lots of bars, restaurants & shops. Nice continental breakfast, the room was small but great for a short stay- had everything we needed: tv, safe, ensuite, wardrobe. The bed was really comfy & the service was excellent. Was noisy because of the trams but wasn't that bad really. We loved Amsterdam, everything is in walking distance & the trams are cheap, you can get the number 5 from the Leidesplein to Dam Square. Anne Frank's House is a must so are the street chips on the Damrak. :)

after arriving in Amsterdam only to discover our accomodation had been double booked we stumbled across this little gem at 11.00 p.m when we thought all hope was lost!! The staff were welcoming and extremely helpful -they had to jiggle things to fit us in for all 3 nights of our stay which involved one room change. The rooms were small but spotlessly clean. Beds were comfy and the bathroom(s) were nicely decorated with excellent showers. Breakfast was nice and although there were no tea/coffee facilities in the rooms the staff were always happy to make complimentary drinks for guests at anytime - which was a nice touch. This place wasn't luxury accomodation but if you are looking for a great base, somewhere central - thats clean, comfortable and friendly then this is it.
