Stayed recently for one night at Hotel de Utrechtsche Dom, Gouda. Although I was arriving late (after 10pm), the hotel were happy to give my key to a friend (who was already checked-in). Room, although basic, was perfectly adequate, very clean and comfortable - likewise the bathroom (mine was not en suite though en suite are available). Breakfast was terrific - great selection of cereals, breads, eggs, cheese, cold meats, fruit etc. If you are looking for an excellent value for money, centrally located hotel then consider Hotel de Utrechtsche Dom.

We stayed here in May for one night. It was the last night of our 4 day bicycle tour of Dutch tulip fields, and the outfitter selected this hotel. Positives: fabulous location in the historic center, interesting history (it was the dormitory for tulip bulb traders from Utrecht during their stays in Gouda). Pleasant, helpful staff who patiently helped us with directions and train schedules. Quiet atmosphere, no issues with street noise.
Not as positive: our room was quite cramped. We were fortunate to have a toilet and shower attached to our room, which were small but adequate. The room itself was small, barely enough room to walk around, and the two of us had to coordinate our movements so as not to be on top of each other. Tiny sink in the room, not separately in the bathroom with the toilet/shower. Breakfast in the morning barely adequate and not very interesting, perhaps the worst of our entire trip.
I doubt I would have chosen this place on my own, and if I was travelling alone I might return.

My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights as our base for a cycle tour.

It's a small hotel, the rooms are small, but the staff are super friendly, willing to do anything to make your stay more pleasant. The rooms are clean. There is free wifi. The breakfast is super yummy, with lots of choices.

Yes, the stairs are steep, but I'm learning there are a lot of stairs in the Netherlands.

This hotel is ideally located in the main shopping area, a short stroll to shops and restaurants.

We stayed at Utrechtsche Dom for one night during a 5-day bike trip in the Netherlands. It's pretty basic hotel (although with a long and storied history), but it's charming, nonetheless. We had the suite overlooking the courtyard, which was nice. In addition to being fairly spacious and providing an entryway to lay out luggage separate from the bedroom area, the suite has a skylight that opens. Between this and the window onto the courtyard, it was very pleasant.

Room Tip: Book the suite overlooking the courtyard

Stayed here for a night and the location in Gouda is super, just a minutes walk to the centre and all the cafés/restaurants. The suite is quite dark but is spacious and has a view of the internal courtyard. Very comfortable bed and decent size bathroom. Staff were very friendly and helpful. If you have bicycles you can store them securely in a locked area. Breakfast was good, cereals/yogurt/cheese/ham/boiled eggs etc.
