it sounds as though their service is inconsistent from the reviews, but our service was pretty good. It wasn't busy in the restaurant at that time.

We found the food pretty good. both had 1/4 chickens, one with kipkot classic seasonings (the best) and one the estrogen sauce (very good also). the fries were good as were the fries and the happy sauce. and we had a draft IPA. we didn't try the deserts.

all in all, a small menu with some choices, but very good grilled chicken. reasonably priced. Good lunch.

Me and my girlfriend went to Brussels at Xmas and stumbled across Kipkot near the xmas markets. Thank god we did!

We spotted it after already eating that day so had to wait till the next day. It was well and truly worth the wait and also the uber to get there!

We went in and were greeted by the owners brother (I can’t remember his name, sorry!) and shown to our table.

He came and made plenty of suggestions on what to try. We listened and were blown away by how amazing the food was.

My girlfriend is an general manager/massive advocate for Nando’s and was in shock at how much better the food was.

The best bit about the whole experience was, they had only been open for 4 DAYS!!!! Had I not seen that when I went on their Instagram I would not have believed it. Absolutely on another level.

One of our highlights on this trip!

Also, note to the management, if you do decided to come to the uk like you want to and do in fact listen to my advice about starting in Manchester. I will exchange my manager girlfriend for food. Deal???

Thank Andrew D

Kipkot (‘kip’ meaning ‘chicken’ in Dutch) is a small and unpretentious restaurant with a simple formula: they serve Belgian wood-fire grilled Malines chicken in three portions (quarter, half, or whole) with a sauce ((classical marinade, herbs, archiduc or tarragon) and a choice of two sides - four if you take a whole chicken: chips, jacket potato, organic apple sauce, corn on the cob, green salad, or grated salad with orange). There are a few other options, a vegetarian salad and a few deserts. We liked the industrial-style interior with stacks of chopped wood here and there. The large outside seating area is partly heated and offers a nice view on St. Boniface church. The loos are in the basement.

We had lunch at Kipkot just before 3 pm on a Sunday (on weekdays the kitchen closes at 2 pm) and the place was still very busy and a bit loud. We both had a quarter of a chicken, which was quite enough for a light lunch. One of us had the classical marinade with chips and apple sauce – a Belgian classic - and it was very tasty. The more adventurous eater tried the tarragon sauce and the sides of the day (spinach and sweet potatoes). The sauce was poured over the chicken instead of being served separately, which is a pity because if you don’t like it, your chicken is spoiled. The sweet potatoes weren’t so nice. With drinks, we paid 38 euros for our meal, which is very reasonable. Service was swift and friendly.

If you add a friendly service to a quality product you just need to sit there and enjoy your time. Recommend to give a try to the cocktails to have during your meal.
