First we arrived late at night and discovered that our room is not what we asked for. We were traveling with our kid, so 2 adults and a child and seems there was a confusion about that, no bed was available for our child, so we had to sleep all 3 in the same bed... Ok fine, but at least put towels and enough products we booked for 3 and paid for 3.

There was no air conditioning (or damaged one) but we had a fan (that's why not good nor bad) I mean there are some solutions but the best would be to fix the problems.
It was clean, that's good. The room is spacious. but globally you can notice that not enough maintenance/ servicing is done. We had a closed safe that we couldn't open, the closet is not closing well, all in all it gives a bad impression to a possible good hotel and that is a shame.
It's a very very very good spotted hotel, you have access to most of the things, you have plenty of shops, nice restaurants, the main place, the train station, all is around so excellent.

Room Tip: Good for 2-3 days then not really comfortable but affordable

This hotel is great if you:

- don't want the comfort of a four or five star hotel
- just need a bed to sleep for a night or two
- want to be really close to the city center (one street behind the Great Square/Grote Markt)
- don't expect much

Bottom line: it's a great hotel if you spend your time in the city.

When I visited the air conditioning wasn't working, so they put a ventilator in my room for some fresh breeze. Thumbs up!

Our family of 4 stayed here last night. We booked 2 rooms about a month ago. We arrived during a heat wave. When we checked in we were told the air conditioner was broken. They comped us breakfast and offered to give us fans. We weren't too worried because we figured we could open the windows. The location was the reason we booked the hotel and due to the EU Summit beint in session we didn't want to take a chance of not finding an available room. We went to our rooms and opened the windows and turned on the fans. The rooms were very small. There was only one accessible outlet for electronics which was on the wall outside the bathroom. The pillows were lumpy and each bed had only one. The bathroom was sauna hot. So we opened the door hoping it would cool off. We went out to explore the city. When we returned in the evening the rooms had cooled down, however the bathrooms were still crazy hot. We left the windows open in order to keep the room cool. There was a lot of street noise from the bar and foot traffic which went on all night. About 0700 the work crews arrived and the banging and loud slamming of metal grates began. Overall it was a rough night no sleep at all. About 0830 there was a loud knock on the door. I opened it to some guy asking me questions and then pushing past me to count "something" in our room. I did not understand him, but he was very abrupt and rude. We think we figured out why the bathrooms were so hot, they appear to have radiant heated floors which do not turn off. Overall not a good experience. I would steer clear of this hotel until they get the a/c fixed and the street work is complete. We were happy to check out and head to Bruges.

Booked a short break in Brussels, and wanted a We wanted a hotel near to the centre. This hotel was just that, a stones throw from Grand Place and not much further to Brussels central station. (Be warned the Eurostar Does Not come on not this station).
So we walked from the Brussels Midi station which was about 20minutes. We weren't that worried, although it was very warm. It turned out to be the hottest few days in Northern Europe for many years.

When we got to the hotel there was plenty of works being carried out in the road and footpaths in the area. My initial thought was 'what time will that start?'
That is where the issues started. I had seen quite recently on reviews of this hotel that there was a lack of air con. I thought it would be fixed by the time we got there. I was wrong.
We checked in two hours early, with no extra charge as the room was ready, the guy on reception was helpful I had some issues with train tickets to Brugges and he helped sort it.
He took payment for the two nights. Only then to tell us the air con wasn't working, but we had a fan in the room!
I said still, and he said yes. No discount was offered.

The room was a nice big room on the third floor at the front of the hotel right below the road works. The room was hot with all windows closed, there was a fan but it wasn't on, and curtains were open so the sun was pouring in. So we opened the windows as much as we could and put the fan on. We managed the first night with the fan on and windows open. It was noisy with evening and night time people enjoying themselves. Then early morning the bin men arrived and road works started about 7am. So it the best nights sleep.

We left the windows open during the day with curtains closed and fan on. It wasn't as hot when we got back from our day out in Bruges as when we first arrived. That was the evening when there was an explosion at the station and someone was shot by the army. (Terrorism). We saw people running as they were told to clear the area. We were safe and not affected.

If it wasn't for the lack of air con the hotel would have been more than adequate. It wouldn't have been as noisy as the windows wouldn't have been open. Road works couldn't be helped (not the hotels fault).

The hotel needs some updating (air con obviously) with some newer furniture and a lick of paint or two. Wood work is a peachy colour (very dated).

Hopefully the air con will be fixed very soon.

Plus points:- Location
Negatives:- lack of air con, noisy area, needs some cosmetic work

Photos are of external of hotel before road works, location of hotel in relation to central station, views from our hotel window.
