stayed here via a a Leger battlefield tour. perfectly ok hotel.comfortable, warm rooms with decent facilities.breakfasts are great with a tremendous selection of stuff. Because the hotel is a mile or so out of town we used the restaurant for our evening meals. We thought the standard of food was very good if a little expensive by UK comparison. It's worth asking about the daily special,a good value 2 or 3 course meal.for some reason they dont really advertise it. There is also a very reasonably priced bar.

Stayed here as part of cycle trip. The hotel is a little way from town centre (25 min walk) so if only for Ypres possibly more convenient locations. However is for wider area it is fine.
Only had breakfast here which was a better spread than many continental hotels.
Surprised at comments about cleanliness as our rooms were fine. Separate toilet to bathroom which was good.

Stayed here as part of Leger Holidays Battlefields Tour holiday ( very good). the Lodge is clean, functional and ideal for peace and quiet. i do not do continental breakfasts, but you have a choice of streaky bacon, hard boiled or scrambled eggs, baked beans, mushrooms, little tomatoes. the sausages are the ' hot dog ' type, so not suited for our British breakfast ;-). the tea and coffee were fine, oh....nearly forgot...they have not heard of brown sauce....but there is tomato ketchup. we had a few meal evening meals and they were well done...but not too much ;-). i found the Manageress slightly rigid and regimental...but that may have been me.....or her. the rooms are quite ' gloomy', but i think that is to do with the wooden and timber construction. generally the staff were helpful, especially the girl with the long dark hair...but maybe i am biased to good looking dark haired girls ;-). The Lodge is situated as to what i can only explain " at the head of a very quiet, samey, business trading estate.....thingy". there are no shops or that kind of thing around it. if you want to go to Ypres you had better go by taxi, its a good walk as me and my hoppo found out..............and it is deathly quiet until you hit the centre of Ypres...honest. This was my first time in Belgium and i must say it is a clean and courteous country ( well.............round the northern part). there is mile upon mile of flat, green and brown landscape and you can understand why battles have been fought here. We were fortunate to have sunny, bright and not so cold weather when we were here late September....ideal for battlefield outings. If you enjoy your beer ( not a wino...lol), you will be spoilt by the jupiler, leffe.....but the duvel and westmalle tripel are the dogs bollo ;-). i do not visit the same places twice when i am out of England so i was pleased generally with the Lodge.....and especially the Leger Battlefields Tour. thank you.

Room Tip: got none.....sorry.

Me and my father stayed here whilst on a battlefield tour with 'Leger'. There were 35 on the tour and I must say the hotel was very satisfactory for our needs. Nice clean room, tea making facilities in room, clean towels everyday, free wifi (it worked as well). Restaurant was good, we used it the first night and had a cracking steak. Bar was nice and reasonable prices and staff pleasant and helpful. Breakfast was very good, considering we were told it was continental breakfast only. There was everything you needed, English and continental- buffet style.
The town is only 15 mins walk down the road or 7 euro taxi ride. Beware with taxis as there are only 7 locally and there is no taxi rank ( not allowed in Belgium), so telephone bookings only, so be prepared for a 10-15 min wait.
Menin gate is in town and a 'must'.
I would use again.

Room Tip: Rooms in main block-a second adjoining block is mainly used by larger groups including school children, so apparently can be louder!

Not great.

The plus side was, it is clean. Bed rooms were alright. Shower was pretty good.

The staff were miserable and quite objectionable. Complaining, over nothing. Claiming to remotes had been given when they were not.

Food is basic. On an evening it was poor to barely ok.

The food is basic n an evening.
Breakfast is ok.Br
