Much of the produce here is literally grown on site. Great efforts are made to offer the best, healthiest product for the consumer. The owner is typically on site to speak to you about what they offer. Absolutely worth the stop.
Whenever we have the chance, we visit local markets. The one in Antigua was extremely interesting for some of the items offered were not known to us. Some exotic fruits and veggies and also a very good assortment of locally made handicrafts. It is sooo interesting to mingle with local people and listen to their language which sounds somewhat like english and yet, it is not. The market is easy to find, just ask a local if you are not sure. It is perfectly safe to go there and mingle and.... of course buy something.
I was happy to find a local market with such an extensive selection of mostly locally grown and organic produce. It was also nice to find packaged nuts, seeds, granola bars and other health options that woiuld appeal to those who prefer a plant-based diet. Local eggs were also on sale.
My only negatives is that some of the produce is actually imported and not organic (which the owner himself told me) and I was under the impression that a farmer's market would be local only. The prices are also quite high. Finally, at times I found the owner to be somewhat rude, when I questioned him about his products. In future visits, he was however, more hospitable.
