Our waitress spoke English and was helpful and friendly. The food was good. I had pork cheeks which were stewed and extremely tasty. Prices were reasonable too.

Although the entrance to Pateo is on one of the most well known streets of Evora, the restaurant itself can be easy to miss as the large courtyard is a few steps away from the street.

It's recommended to turn up early or to book as they tend to get extremely busy, but it's well worth it. The black pork is absolutely delicious, the homemade cocktails are very welcome on a warm evening, wine list is spot on (and the wine we chose was terrific), and the waiting staff is very relaxed and friendly. Nice range of local liquors as well - this is where we discovered the licor de bolota on recommandation of our waitress.

Great ambient, kind staff, delicious food. Start with amazing appetizers - codfish with chickpeas and shrimps with garlic were awesome! For main course try pork cheeks
and sweet potato fries. They have great salads too.

Service is friendly, only cold tapas were available when we visited (but they were open when others were closed). Tapas were tasty, prices not unreasonable, outdoor seating with shade from umbrellas welcome on a hot summer day.
