We arrived at the Eden resort in the early evening and were booked in straight away at reception with no fuss. The staff were polite, helpful and spoke exellent English, unlike my attempts at Portugese.
On getting to our 'room' I was surprised to find it was basically a decent sized, relatively new build house with two on suites, a fully fitted kitchen and large dining/lounge area. Outside on the patio was another dining table and sunloungers. I had assumed we would get something like a small studio.
The overall presentation/decor was very good- just a few minor dings and scrapes on the walls through use. The bed was very comfortable and storage space was abundant. Room service were efficient and I had no complaints with this aspect either.
Also included was free wifi with the TV which took a little figuring out, but once working (you had to leave it on to get a signal), it was fast enough to watch streaming films on one device.
Having unpacked we made our way to the dining area and again were surprised by the good quality food- fresh fish, meats, salads, cakes, cheese, breads- don't expect a plethora- but what was there was very good, so much so we didn't bother eating out all week. Lunch and breakfast were equally as good.
Perhaps the only dissapointment were the cocktails on offer- these were made fresh, but were quite basic-although the local wine was good and the beer (Estrella) was cold. We did venture to the upstairs bar once, but preferred to take drinks back to our chalet.
We liked the Eden resort as it was relatively quiet as it was out of season- 198 villas with plenty of parking, although it was quite a walk to the beach and into town and people with mobility problems might struggle with the hills, not that we found it an issue, but some of you folks like to be nearer the beach.
We did try the indoor swimming pool- not a full size one, but warm and made use of the sauna. The outdoor pool was closed off for maintainance so far as we could tell, but will doubtless be open in high season.
If you're thinking of going then self catering would be an equally good option if the price is right- as the kitchen was well appointed and there are LIDL/ALDI about a 20 minute walk away, with a smaller 7-11 type Pingo Doce at the bottom of the hill. There is an on site mini mart if you get stuck. If you want to dine in whilst s/c then dinners are E17.50 a head.
Very little to grumble about here- come our check out at 11 there was no problems with us getting lunch or drinks- well done Eden Resort.
