In short: Best Korma but worst Mattar Paneer we've ever had.

As we like indian food we know what we like and how it should taste. The Mattar Paneer was a disappointment, the sauce was not good, did not have the typical indian flavors. On the other hand the vegetable korma was delicious. It had everything what was missing in the Mattar Panner. Probably the best Korma we've ever had.

Coming from the UK, we have a taste for good Indian food, and living in Switzerland, we have need for more of it. This why we were so pleased to find a curry house in a small Portuguese coastal town that can hold its own with any metropolitan Indian restaurant.

Starters were Pappadums, Paneer Pakora and Veg Samosas. The Pappadums were perfectly crisp; not oily and not overdone. The sauces, Raita, a Mango sauce and what I guess was a Tamarind sauce, were great with all the starters, but I would have appreciated a savoury or spicy sauce in addition.

Our main dishes were Chicken Korma, Chicken Jalfrezi and Lamb Rogan Josh, accompanied by Garlic and Plain Naans and boiled rice. The mains can be ordered at your preferred degree of spiciness - mild for the kids and Madras or Vindaloo if you like heat - without sacrificing the flavour.

The food was perfectly cooked, arrived without delay and was delicious. The waiter was friendly, attentive and efficient.

Another reviewer mentioned the decor and it's great; a mix of traditional Indian with a local maritime theme, both combining to anchor the restaurant culturally and geographically.

We had take away a few nights later and the food was equally good. And the Cobra beer extremely cold :-).

If you like Indian food, don't miss this place and if you have never tried it, why not give it a go? You won't be disappointed.

We called to the Indian Curry House as it was close by and 1st impressions from the road will not endear one to venture inside. So happy we gave it a go. Is was excellent Indian food and very comparable to our experiences of eating in India. Equally as good. Starters excellent. Fish stew curry and king prawn curry with special rice and naan breads for mains. Excellent vegetarian options too. Prices are very reasonable and service is excellent. No frills but I would certainly return. Recommended.

Not only did the guys from the Indian Curry House save us veggies from suffering from severe malnutrition (cheese toast or sandwich or omelette being the only available options in Portugese restaurants) - they really made us happy!

Homemade Indian food - no tourist scam but the real thing that tastes like in India. Sauces from fresh herbs and spices, cooked for hours. Meal freshly cooked when ordered. Staff who knows what they are serving and gives advice when asked. You can adjust the "spicyness" to your wishes - and if you ask for spicy, they give you spicy not the "what Indians think what Europeans think that spicy is".

In short: Fresh food, good quality of ingredients, authentic and delicious, lots of dishes to choose (veg/nonveg), quick and friendly service. We stayed 3 nichgts at sagres and dined there 3 times. What to say more? Fantastic!
