We stayed in the Casa do Flores, the accomodation more up the hill with a beautiful view over the sea. We enjoyed the room and the possibility to sit outside. Espaco Thalasso is next door and organises great whale watching trip. But also excursions to several parts of the island.

The whale watching trips are absolutely fantastic and the talk beforehand is quite inspiring.
The restaurant was pretty good - had an excellent lunch here with lots of choice.
There are lots if staff about, and the reception desk is fine as staff come if the bell is rung.
Double room - was minuscule and claustrophobic, and as stated by other reviewers was very warm with a window that only opens partially. We brought a mini fan with us, but fans really must be provided for guests. Sea facing rooms are directly onto street and above restaurant- luckily not much noise on night we were there. I could not have stayed in this room more than one night.

We had a great holiday here with good food and wine, whale watching and walking. Very relaxed and friendly people. Quiet and peaceful. Fish superb and hotel very quaint with lovely views and sunsets. A lovely place.

Room Tip: Get a sea view.

It was the worst service ever!
We were 5 for dinner, and we were told there was about 1h of cue to order dinner because they had too many people to serve (there were only 10 or 12 on the restaurant, so we thought it was odd...). Even so, we said we would wait and we were told to sit down. It was 9h15 pm. 30 minutes later came the soup we ordered. 5 minutes after we were told they couldn't serve us the dinner we ordered because the kitchen was closed. They would serve us tost and sandwiches only.
We got up and left.
We were lucky enough to find a nice place to eat at that time, because Lages' restaurants close very early!

We stayed in the sister accommodation casa de Flores. It was very clean. A little tight and hot so would have benefited from a fan and/or mosquito nets. The Bathroom would also benefit from ventalation. It was priced accordingly and breakfast (ten minute walk) was solid.

We found the staff mixed; at times friendly and at times very brusque in manner which was very different to our experience of azorean people. This likely affected our experience.

We ate dinner once in the restaurant. It took 30 minutes to get a drink and 1 hour and 15 minutes to eat due to there being a group. The group appeared to be 8 people at most so be advised it may take time if the restaurant is busy. I had the bean stew and was the ill the next day, though it's hard to attribute this directly to the stew.

We got laundry done while there. Unfortunately all our sports gear was returned with a strong odour of vomit which didn't go after 3 days of airing.

We did compete whale watching and while we didn't see whales this was an excellent experience.
