Quite simply one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in. We were a party of 23, staying for a friends 60th birthday bash - and we were royally looked after.
The word "royally" is appropriate as the photographs on the walls in the corridors reflect a whose who of European Royals and high society who have stayed here over the decades. The Bond fans will also note the scenes from OHMSS that were filmed here. You literally felt at times that you were stepping back in time.
The highlight was the staff. From the doorman to the concierge to the bar staff to the pool staff, we did not want for anything. All immaculately dressed, I cannot think of a hotel where we have been better served. Particular mention is due to Eva and Joao in the "Spies Bar", who were never without a smile notwithstanding the huge challenge of keeping 23 peoples' drink flowing.
The outside pool is fantastic, very warm, with plenty of room surrounding to lay in the sun. There is also a huge spa area across the road (the Banyan Tree) which I did not actually get to (save for a cursory look around). However those who used it spoke highly of it.
As for the food, the breakfasts are to die for. A vast buffet, and if that is not enough (believe me it is!) you can order specific stuff on top (excellent...Quite simply one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in. The location is also brilliant. Five minute stroll from the Estoril Casino, and five minutes in the other direction down to the beach and train to Lisbon or Cascais (30 mins or 5 mins respectively).
All in all, a hotel that is a must for anyone looking for a break in the Lisbon areaMore
