We really loved this place! For the first hour. And also for the epic free breakfast! The staff were so sweet, and the hotel room had fun interior design. The rating-ruining issue was that we had no way to control the air temperature in the room, so the first night we slept horribly in 76F stale air. We couldn’t open the window to cool off because the street was right outside our window and the voices and footsteps of bar goers amplified right into the bedroom until 5am. To the lovely staff’s credit, they trouble shot the climate control situation with us for an hour the next day, but unfortunately to no avail: they figured that the reason the AC kept turning itself off is that it is november, and if one of the other minisplits is on heat mode, then the rest must be on heat mode. the following night was just as bad. Literally slept like four hours over two days at this hotel. They didn’t even have a cheap free-standing fan they could stick in our room to move the air around a bit. So at 4am I desperately opened the window/door to the street and alas couldn’t fall back asleep due to the noise: a woman wailing in an apartment across the street, Groups of people loudly walking home from the bars, and even a crying cat. The Cherry on top of this uncomfortable, Unrelaxing two days was that the car that the concierge had arranged to drive us to the airport at 7am was nowhere to be found at 7:15am, and when I asked the morning concierge if the car was outside he called the car company and said they had gotten confused but would send someone in fifteen minutes. NO THX couldn’t risk waiting so we called a Bolt, sprinted up the steep hill with our luggage, and gtfo.
