Owner description: This suspension bridge across the Tagus River has the longest central span in Europe, at 1.5 miles. It also looks quite a bit like San Francisco's famed "Golden Gate Bridge," though this one was named after the revolution.

This landmark bridge in Lisbon is quite similar to the Golden Gate Bridge. It is best viewed from Belem.

We sailed under this bridge into and out of Lisbon. Great similarity with teh Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, California. Nearby is Christ statue

We have the chance to walk along the promenade from city center to Torre de Belem this time and passed underneath this bridge on our way. The red iron bridge is the icon in Lisbon. Originally it is called Salazar Bridge but renamed to 25 de Abril Bridge after gaining democracy here. Apart from the sailing boats shelter, a roll of cafes/restaurants are found just underneath the bridge. Local people often come here to have their meals on weekends. Really enjoyable.

This bridge is huge! ... its worth walking along the river to, to stand under it to experience the sheer scale of it... theres a constant buzz of the traffic going over head... despite the noise theres a really nice selection of waterfront bars and restaurants under the bridge.

I was only few hours in Lisbon and newly equipped with an eBike, I was cycling towards this massive bridge on my way to the Belem tower (pronounced Blem), it is quite an impressive architectural landmark worth seeing. A nice tip is that just underneath there are former warehouses which have now been turned into nice restaurants just facing a lovely Marina ...the 5 Oceanos is worth a visit if you like fish.
