I dont know what kind of moron does not kneel before a dinner like this. 80 euro tasting menu (plus 35 of a very interesting wine menu) worth every one of them. Superb service, no wait at all between dishes, complimentary wine... We are used to michelin guide resturants an this one has been simply outstanding. Optimal quality-price rating.

We arrived late into Porto and couldn’t get a booking at any of the restaurants we wanted. Palco was available and we were very pleased with the choice. The food was very good and the service was very efficient.

We were in the Restaurant Vinum the night before and had a great experience there. The service and food were perfect. The evening at the Palco was a disappointment. We had reserved a table. And although the restaurant was almost empty, we should sit down at a table that we did not like at all. We asked for another table in an area that was totally empty. We were told that they were all reserved. But we had also reserved. We still asked for another table, even that was not possible. We wanted to leave, so we were offered a table in the empty area. Later, other people wanted to sit down at the table, which we also had requested. But these people also were not allowed to sit at this table. So they left the restaurant. When we left at 11:15 pm, the table and all the tables next to it were still empty, like 80% of the tables of the restaurant. We were then brought the menu. We were not asked if we wanted an aperitif. We did not receive a wine list. We had to ask for it first. We waited 30 minutes for our aperitif. We also had to ask that they do not bring the food before the aperitif. Then came the bread and olive oil. We asked for some salt. The waitress let us wait another 10 minutes. Only when we asked a second waiter again, we received the salt. The food was unfortunately only average. The fish was too dry and the dish had no flavours. The meat was unacceptable compared to the Restaurant Vinum. The wine glasses were still half full refilled, but billed on the bill as whole glasses. This evening was totally disappointing.

We had the 8 course tasting menu and thought it was delicious. We were surprised that this restaurant does not have a Michelin star. There were a few stand out moments. The tangerine and coriander pre-dessert had us a bit worried, but we were blown away by it. The 2 meat courses were immaculately cooked and tasted great. The dishes were not over complicated, without too many competing elements but worked well together. There were some disappointments, the red mullet and mussels tasted very fishy and salty and the final dessert, chocolate, kiwi and matcha didn't really work for us. The chocolate powder was dry and there was far too much on the plate. However this did not dampen our enjoyment too much and overall we thought it was a very nice meal.

Thank Thomas I
