An excellent location for my needs, with the lovely Casa Do Alto Gallery a short distance away (the reason for my business trip) and just across the road from numerous transport links outside the Hospital de S.Joao, a tram link to the centre of town and buses to places a little further afield. It was nice to be not in right the centre of town, with the cheaper price, but with easy access to the cultural sights.
A very well run hotel with an excellent cold buffet breakfast (included in the price) with a good selection of teas. My room was emaculate and included the all important balcony for some private sunbathing. Staff were very accommodating and willing to go out of their way with any requests. A good selection of Ports and beer to try at the bar. (Although for other local wines I would recommend a short trip across the road to a small "off licence" where the slightly eccentric owner is happy to advise and open the bottle for you, another little find!) All the staff were friendly and nothing was any trouble. There's also a post office on the same street for those of you that still send postcards.:D

Room Tip: I'd always go for one with a balcony.
