I wanted a hotel downtown which was less international and a lot more portuguese. Hotel Vera Cruz is like that. A bit quaint, homely, comfortable, a very, very amicable staff... The room was not large (but the bathroom, in an old-faxhioned style!) was quite big. It on a side-street from one of the the main downtown squares. But it is quite ailent, the side-street is quiet. It was really a nice stay. and breakfast is on the last floor with seagulls and two towers close by: The Town Hall's tower and the "Torre dos Clérigos". It was in the winter of 2017 and, from my breakfast I could see th sun coming up from behind the buildings and changing all the colours of the buildings.

Room Tip: It seemed to me that all rooms were quiet

We stayed there one night and were upgraded to a suite, the bathroom recently remodeled excellent and very spacious the room needs a little bit of TLC.
You would be surprised how much the covers and the curtains do for a room.
The breakfast was included and it's pretty varied. Yogurt cereal juices bread etc.
Actually the only place with a view.
It's just OK. Excellent location.

Just returned from Porto, staying at the Vera Cruz Hotel.
First off, what a fab city Porto is. So much to see & do in this
historic city with it's two parts either side of the river.

From high end fashion to quaint coffee shots this city has it all.
What a gem, this place is a must if you like to wander around all day.
You have the bonus of so many eateries both day & night, with prices to suit
any budget. The locals are so friendly & a jolly lot they are when you engage with them.
I will defo return to this little diamond.

The hotel Vera Cruz was the ideal place to stay right in the heart of the city & so
easy to get to from the airport.1 return ticket for 4.5 Euros (valid for 12 months) gets you to the centre (Trindade ) on the Purple Line (E).Out of the station & turn left for 4 mins then cross over to the right & the hotel is there opposite Santander Bank. Lovely reception staff, John & the ladies are very sharp & will sort you out with things to see & do.
The rooms are spacious with a mini fridge & good bathrooms.
The housekeeping is top notch.

Breakfast was hot coffee/fresh bread/ham/cheese/fruit juice/yogurt/fruit.Well enough to start your day.
In short folks, this city & hotel are both ideal for a break or extended holiday.
Well recommended by the amount of people visiting regularly.
Enjoy.

Room Tip: Like always, the higher the floor the more you see.

The hotel's location is perfect, near the subway station.Staff friendly and approachable.
Near the hotel there is an excellent restaurant, recommended the hotel staff. Breakfast is very good, and served on the top floor. The view is beautiful, view the main square and sights that surround it. Definitely recommend it.

Room Tip: The room was on the inside of the hotel. For a short stay, not bad. Clean, neat and quiet.

The fantastic position from the airport get the trindade metro and just walk across he road down the hill past the tourist information
Welcoming staff, compact reception but it is a basic city hotel
Room 604, we booked a king size bed suite, great bed we slept well, we were at he back of the hotel so view of Portos roofs, the room had the bed room section then a section with a sofa bed, which was infact made up as a bed when we arrived ...no sure why! As only me and my husband...bathroom shower room clean and tidy, i did have a bit of an issue getting in the shower cubicle as back of bath tilts, think the shower suround needs rethinking as not very safe, could do with a heated towl rail.
The breakfast was fine, wonderful views from the dining area and the staff were polite and quick to refill supplies and clear table
So many places to eat and place next door but one gets busy SO BOOK
Shops everywhere.....really good position.
I am sure we will visit again

Room Tip: Ask position of room, eg front or back, floor.
