The Speakeasy Yacht Club
Ranked #9 of 14 Restaurants in Koh Kaew
Price range: US$180 - US$2,000
Description: Long-awaited by mid-island residents, the marina’s boardwalk has come alive and promises to be a unique place to drink and dine ‘à la St Tropez’. We started our ‘marina evening’ at The Speakeasy – a name that conjures up 1920s-30s prohibition in the USA, when alcohol was illegal. Speakeasies blossomed and, unlike the traditional bars, welcomed men and women who wanted a few drinks, to listen to live music and to dance. Why “speakeasy”? Well, originally it was because pre-prohibition unlicensed USA bartenders would tell their customers to “speak easy” when ordering their alcohol. Of course, there’s nothing dodgy about Phuket’s Speakeasy at Royal Phuket Marina’s boardwalk – but it does conjure up images of an Al Capone hangout; you almost expect Eliot Ness and his ‘Untouchables’ to burst through the doors

Very limited menu. The sandwich I ordered was just about OK. The coffee was cold. And the bill was ridiculously expensive for what I had.

Such a shame there are no other options inside the marina

We recently had lunch at Speakeasy and were pleasantly surprised with the quality of food, which is more on the healthy side. I had the Ham & Cheese sandwich, while the missus had the Beef Stir-Fried with Basil.

Overall, good taste and delightful view, though it is reflected in the price in the end.

Not a lot of choice on the menu but what we did have was ‘ok’. Very busy when we visited as 2019 Yacht Show was taking place. Additional staff had been brought in to cater for crowds however enthusiasm was lacking to say the least. We did get the feeling that, as we weren’t there to
buy a boat, the manageress / staff were not really interested in us! Service was slow, food expensive (once an additional 10% service charge + 7% vat applied). They even charged 10% for slapping 4 beers on a table!! Not many other options for eating though at the marina so be prepared for the surcharge. Lovely setting.

After a good morning's golf we had booked a table for lunch.
We were given the option of outside under large overhang giving shade and good fans. The other option was inside, wow a real Speakeasy/Gentleman's Club atmosphere, overstuffed sofas and period décor.
The menu was full of light salad based meals as well as more substantial dishes.
We chose the salad options and one vegetarian pizza. All pronounced top classs.
We will return again.
