My wife and I spent 3 nights at the hotel prior to a cruise and then returned to the hotel for one night prior to leaving for Santorini. The location is great, within easy walking distance of many of the city's attractions and tourist precincts but just off the main track enough that you don't get the sense of being surrounded by tourist traps. The immediate vicinity looks a little worn around the edges but at no time did we feel unsafe. Although the room on the first stay was a little smaller than that on the second, it was certainly comfortable and both had a great shower. The breakfast included in our tariff was excellent.
The physical hotel, however, is only half the story. Although we were impressed with the staff on our first visit, it was only on the second that we realised just how wonderful they were. We were booked to depart for Santorini by ferry but were advised about a week in advance that it wouldn't run due to a strike. We then booked to travel by air. Literally as we arrived at the hotel the evening prior to the scheduled flight, I received a text advising that our flight had been cancelled because of strike action. We then spent several very anxious hours as we tried to work out a solution. Throughout this time the staff, especially the Receptionist, were incredibly supportive and helpful. Eventually we got confirmation that we could get on an early morning flight which required a 0530 departure from the hotel. Without prompting, we were immediately offered a wake up call and breakfast pack - which turned out to be huge and magnificent. Feeling a little drained by the day's drama, rather than revisit a restaurant we had visited the first time round, we elected to eat in the hotel restaurant. The young lady who served us was absolutely delightful. She was very much aware of what we had gone through and even provided an additional serving of a delicious dessert because she thought we needed cheering up.
Likewise, the young man on the desk at 0515 in the morning as we prepared to depart was again extremely helpful and friendly, even preparing a "coffee-to-go" for me to take in the taxi - along with the breakfast pack.
Although unlikely, if we were ever to return to Athens, this is the only hotel we would consider and would certainly advise any friends and colleagues visiting to do the same. Wonderful hotel and brilliant staff.

We were so happy with this hotel. the staff were lovely, especially Costas and the lovely ladies on the desk and at breakfast. the hotel is modern, very clean and a very comfortable bed. they knew it was our anniversary and two minutes after entering our room we were sent two glasses of champagne and a plate of beautiful tasty fruit and chocolate. a lovely way to start our weekend, and actually the whole stay was just great. the metro station was really close and just opposite is an amazing great bakery shop. fabulous desserts, so reasonable and fab cold coffee and whatever you fancy, open 24 hours a day! the breakfast was lovely, very fresh, cooked breakfast and fresh fruit and vegetables, nothing missing and actually lovely to just watch the flea market working just outside our lovely hotel, not scary at all, a great vibe during the weekend, lots of bars all over and close to everything. I would definitely stay here again!

The location of O & B Hotel is ideal as it is only about a 10-15 minute walk to the Acropolis and across the street from an array of different restaurants. The staff from start to finish was incredibly helpful. Whether it was in the routine of answering questions or resolving an air conditioning issue that was resolved promptly they acted professionally and politely. Specifically Costas and Aete were the face of the hotel. Kudos to both of them.

Would recommend staying at O & B Hotel and if in the area again would stay at the same place. The only difference would be reserving the room with the full Acropolis view facing south versus the Junior Suite

Room Tip: The junior suites have a great view of the Acropolis

What makes this small hotel stand out is its great location and its friendly staff. Within half a block you have the Thiseos Metro station, with the pedestrian walkway to the Acropolis going up, and several blocks of restaurants with outdoor seating facing the Acropolis on the level. There are more blocks of restaurants nearby winding through the Plaka. Most of the major attractions in Athens are within walking distance. As other reviewers have commented, don't be discouraged by the graffiti on the buildings across the street. You can enjoy the superb breakfast and watch the native Athenians go about their business.

What really made the place special for us was the concierge Arete. A Greek from New York city, she was able to discern our desires and give us great recommendations on where to eat, what to see, and how to get there. We hadn't planned our stay in detail before arriving, but she helped us to have a wonderful time.

The O&B is a proper boutique hotel. Small, friendly, good service, comfortable and very conveniently located for taking in the classical sites of Athens. We stayed for one night after flying into the city before driving down to the Peloponnese.

We were greeted with a glass of iced water as soon as we arrived, then served with a tray of canapes and a glass of a Greek spirit when we got to our room.

It is central Athens so expect some noise but the air con means you can keep the windows shut so most noise out and get a decent night.
