It was a lovely experience. Chania is a wonderful place, who can doubt. But actually people make the difference. Mrs Thomai has created a unique environment. i will be there again next year for sure !

This was my third stay with Thomais in Madonna Studios. I don't get time to do many reviews these days, and I am late doing this one, but suffice to say this continues to be a wonderful place to escape from the everyday hustle and bustle. It feels a little like going home, knowing you'll be treated like family. Not intrusive, always incredibly polite, but there to help and to share information and advice if asked, so that you can make the most of your visit. Thomais and Avrilia work hard to keep this beautiful place in the old town a clean and comfortable little oasis of calm.

We stayed in the top floor apartment for the second time, we enjoyed the larger terrace for breakfast (we made our own mostly but Thomais will offer breakfast if asked) we sat out on the smaller terrace over the street for evening games of cards and listening to the gentle chatter or music drifting from the places nearby. This is not a noisy place at all, but it is nice to feel part of the town and the little pedestrian street below has local people sharing a chat or fussing a dog, or a few tourists wandering the nooks and crannies of the old town. You are not far from the waterfront if you want a more lively atmosphere, just a minute to walk, but some of the nicest restaurants are not at the waterfront, go back a few streets and you'll find them. Thomais will be happy to advise. We always visit To Xani for the live music and atmosphere. Tamam is great, or wander round to the other end of the harbour and try some great vegetarian food at To Stachi. We didn't go to Well of the Turk this time but always enjoyed it in the past. Chania has too many good places to eat to fit them into a few days!

If you get time go by taxi and try the wines and food at Manousakis Winery - bliss! Thomais can arrange a taxi for you, and she also can arrange for you to be met at the airport and she then meets you where the pedestrianised streets meet the parking and walks with you to Madonna Studios.

We like an adventure, to go somewhere new, but when you just need to get away and not spend time planning or stressing - this is where we would choose.

The Madonna Studios is a family run (mother and daughter) hotel that got our all time highest ranking in terms of overall satisfaction. The studio apartment was immaculately maintained, the cleanest that we've ever stayed in. The hospitality that we experienced was overwhelming. We were met by a taxi at the airport, arranged by the hotel, that delivered us to the door, where the hotel owner was waiting to meet us. The owner met with us on the first day to give us a run down of all of the restaurants and noteworthy sights. We had a wonderful 5-day stay.

Delightful manager and daughter makes this charming hotel an unforgettable place to stay in old town Hania. We were nearly killed with kindness by Thomais with her homemade cakes, biscuits, ice cream, raki, orange juice and cheese pies. All really delicious. She was full of great restaurant choices, the ones we tried were indeed excellent.
The small hotel is just a minute from the harbour side and a few alleyways from the centre...and parking.
The rooms are traditional and spacious. The wooden floors/ ceilings can mean that noise from other rooms can travel but it's a small gripe and a result of staying in an 800 year old property.
Would definitely stay again and I felt a valued guest.

Wow this place certainly lives up to it's reputation! Tranquil large airy rooms, very spacious. The rooms are much bigger than what they appear in the photographs. Very quiet little lane, tucked away from the main venetian harbour, yet just 3 minutes into the centre of the old town walkable from the main bus station in 15 minutes. Large fridge, cake and coffee and juice on arrival. Two lovely private patios overlooking the cobbled lane. It's a no car zone so extremely quiet. 7 minutes from the beach on foot. Coffee machine and tea and coffee provided. Linen changed regularly. Pizza delivery arranged be the owner for the children on the arrival. Plants and fresh flowers around the rooms. Toiletries provided and fresh towels every day including beach towels too. We took the regular bus from Chania airport to the main town. €2.50 euros each person. 30 minutes transfer. Get off at last stop. Ask Madonna studios for directions before arrival. Comprehensive directions sent to find it on foot. Easy to get to. 5 minutes stroll from excellent fish and Greek restaurants. Owner can't do enough to help, Thomias is wonderful! . Children safe to wonder around on their own. It's such a beautiful place to visit. Highly recommended.
