This hotel can do much more in hospitality (reception staff not welcoming visitors), rooms small and need renovation, parking space is terrible, and so much more. Exception is the breakfast restaurant staff (excellent service) and the roof garden bar, which is a great place. But overall it will be my last choice when visiting this city again.

We travelled as a group taking 4 rooms of various levels and floors. We picked the hotel because off the star rating and good reviews, however our experience was very different to what we had expected.

The Hotel
This is very dated despite undergoing a facelift. There are some nice modern touches such as the free phone calls on a free for use mobile and easy to access wifi but this does not outweigh the feeling that the values of the hotel remain in the early nineties. I would say the hotel relies in the custom of coach tours to fill rooms.

I found the reception staff were rude and unwelcoming at every opportunity.

We were not greeted with a smile on arrival, indeed we were left to stand like little school children without acknowledgement whilst waiting to be checked in.

The nicest staff we met were the cleaners, especially our lady on floor 2 who went out of her way to make sure we found our room and always seemed happy to see us.

We also had a nice meal in the new restaurant, some lovey staff too, although I think we were amongst the first to use it for lunch. To be honest they are the only reason I am giving this review two stars and not one.

We had a junior suite on level 2 which was large & clean but a little worse for wear, chunks missing out of the plaster on corners, thin carpeting, safe kept playing up and refusing to unlock, kettle provided but no cups to drink from. The view was of derelict buildings and the back of the hotel, not inspiring for the extra we paid for a suite. The entire level 2 smelt of second hand smoke which was off putting.

Plenty of breakfast to choose from, however the juice was very watered down and the quality of the produce was not great, scrambled eggs were a bit runny, bacon very fatty, bakery goods a little soggy. Also very difficult to get a seat when the coach parties are in.

The hotel is large and pretty soulless, you would not want to spend your evening in the bar. The roof pool and terrace are the nicest, however this was shut for 1 & 1/2 days when we were there because of a rain storm. Be aware they will keep this shut even when the rain has long gone and will even shut it if there is the possibility of rain.

The hotel has parking but you MUST book this. They have approx 30 spaces for 400 guests

The Hotel is away from the nicer parts of the city, a taxi will cost you around 4 euros.

Suggestions for improvement
The location and age of the hotel are what they are, very little can be done to change this, however you can change the approach of the staff. Your younger staff and cleaners understand the value of actually appearing to want guests to stay at your hotel, learn from them.

Make your customers feel wanted and valued and they will probably return.

Room Tip: Do not stay on second floor, stinks of second hand smoke.

The room was very clean, we had body lotion and dove soap in the bathroom. The staff was very friendly. The breakfast had a pretty wide variety of food. The hotel is eco-friendly with an "every drop counts" hanged on the bathroom door

Feel free to book and stay at this hotel, you will probably not be dissapointed! Nice building, not far from city center. Very nice and arty lobby and breakfast hall. Pleasant and most helpfull stuff at check in/out. Quite big, nice looking rooms with new furniture (mine was with double bed, big table, sofas) and with AC unit. Clean and properly equipped bathroom. For breakfast they offered various types of hams, salamies, eggs, fruits, vegetables and bassicly all that you need for a breakfast. They also had sauna which I did not visit.

Nice hotel in heart of the city and near several good restaurants. Our room was clean and relatively large compared to some European hotels. During our stay the hotel was offering the use of a smartphone that could be used to make FREE calls to the United States; an unexpected feature that we took advantage of during our stay. Wi-Fi service in our room was very weak but reception was good in the lobby. The people at the front desk were friendly and helpful. The hotel breakfast was one of the best we had during our visit to Greece; great verity and high quality.
