“Moderate sized park with several hike trails”

Garphyttans Nationalpark

Lovely park with a couple of Glen's and a mountain, there are several hiking trails that are well marked, easy to navigate, if you have smaller kids though, it might be easier if you had them in a carry on backpack. Lovely views from the top of the mountain, not the outlook point though. If your are the outlook point, follow the signs leading y up the mountain, you'll get a much better view. Also, there's are a couple of benches as well as a place to start a fire, with free logs, bring your own match and paper. The parking lot below also has three sitting areas where one can eat, all of then with places to start a fire. There are dry toilets by the parking lot where you can find free handwipes in disposable packs. Best time to visit would be in spring when the glens are filled with flowers, visit a month later and you'll find other flowers sprouting up. By fall, the colors of the foliage change wonderfully, provided it isn't too rainy. Hikes take about half an hour to get to the top, there's also an access road to the top from the parking area so if you want to bring an off road buggy, it's possible to walk on the gravel road to the top. It's about 20 minutes from Orebro city.

I visited the national park in September so I had no chance to enjoy all the flowers which are the main attraction there. It was a nice forest promenade anyway.
The only unpleasant thing here is a huge amount of some strange bugs/flies that fasten in your hair and clothes.

Not what most people expect for a "national" park. My understanding is that the area was saved in order to preserve plants that were disappearing from the landscape because of farming. Although the wildflowers are beautiful in the spring and summer, I can't say that there are flowers here that I haven't seen elsewhere. Nonetheless, it is a very lovely place for hikes and picnics.

Lots of snow in March - followed the green and blue trails and enjoyed exploring the park. The park is quite small, so you feel that you are able to see all of it during a visit. There are lots of parking places, picnic places, toilets, view points, and well-marked trails. Would love to return and see the park in different seasons.
