The restaurant was recommended to us by a local as the owner is a butcher and supplies meats to all other restaurants. As we are meat lovers we thought we would give it a try. We ordered the lamb chops (our favourite in Greece), unfortunately the service was slow, not unusual for a busy restaurant I know and would have forgiven this had the meal been as good as we were expecting. Horror, the chops weren’t of particularly good quality and were vastly over cooked, charcoal chops! Needless to say we never went back. On a plus the prices were reasonable.

We had the best steaks ever, perfectly grilled and huge servings. They have non-meat dishes too but l think meat is their specialty! Very good value for money too!

Returning again to Aegialis we ate here several evenings during our 6 night stay. We noticed most nights we were not the only repeat customers, so this tells a lot and word is out on this fabulous taverna as full to capacity as well! As for food, outrageously generous portions, at extremely reasonable prices. You will wait a bit longer but so worth it as each order freshly prepared. We feasted on seafood - calamari and swordfish, stuffed eggplant and oven pork, fresh salads and nice house wine. The seafood was grilled to perfection, we ordered a couple times! Don't miss this family run taverna, it truly is the best in Aegialis.

Asteria is an awesome place with such lovely people. I loved the authentic, home cooked food (just like my grandmothers) and incredible portion sizes. It's delicious!

Asteria is family operated. The owners are lovely, welcoming and aim to please - and they do!

Enjoy!

This is an unpretentious restaurant serving mostly traditional food. Our waiter Stephan was good. We shared a pureed garlic appetizer which was ok and grilled eggplant which was excellent. My patatate, lamb stewed with potatoes and tomatoes, was very tender and tasty, but had more bone than meat. The eggplant casserole was tasty, and the pizza had much more dough than cheese. The house retsina was a bit unusual and not as piney as most. Prices were very reasonable.
