The Sibelius monument was built in 1967, it celebrates the Finnish Composer Sibelius. It consists of 600 steel organ pipes arranged unevenly in vertical groups representing a soundwave, there is a facial structure of the composer adjacent to it. It is set in a pretty unkempt part of parkland, but apparently this is on purpose to reflect his musical opus ‘Finlandia’ which emulates the natural Finnish environment. Its a bit out of the way, but t was a pleasant part of a long walk taking in a lot of the sights of Helsinki.

An ideal park if you want to walk your dogs or to jog. There are only three monuments. The great attraction to tourists is the silvery Sibelius monument.

This is worth seeing, we stopped here as part of our guided tour. It is a sort of organ which apparently makes noise when the wind blows. There is also a sculpture of Sibelius's head just nearby.

This is an interesting place. The monument is alternative to look at and play with. There were so many people around! Toilets and refreshments located nearby. And just behind is a nice walk along the coast.
