Our one bedroom apartment was in a beautiful old street right next to the famous Hallgrimskirkja and walking distance to the shopping and eating streets of the old city centre and the harbour! The apartment was beautifully laid out, newly furnished with every comfort imaginable. there was even fresh ground coffee waiting for us with a filter coffee maker and filters ready to use! There is free parking at the church 24 hours and on the road outside the apartment the parking is free between 6pm and 9am.

Room Tip: The one bedroom apartment has an additional sofa bed in the lounge so the apartment can sleep 4 peop...

As noted, there are a few apts throughout the city. We were in 53 Grettisgata – in a studio apartment. The studio consisted of a closed-door bedroom with two twin beds and a couch. A flat-panel TV was hung in the corner. Besides the bathroom, there was also a kitchen area with the necessities – electric stove, mini-fridge, sink and a few other appliances. The apartment was very warm, no fans or controllable AC, but the windows opened fully. The location was excellent! One block off Laugavegur (the main street). As previously noted, this isn’t a luxury or lifestyle hotel, but I’d definitely recommend and book again.

We stayed in the penthouse apartment and it was the perfect size for our family of 4. It was clean and well-furnished. They brought fresh towels every 2 days. We could walk to anywhere in Reykjavik and it was pretty easy to park our rental car near the apartment.

Very centrally located apartments, easy access and parking close by. Good base. Plus as a bonus located close to Bonus supermarket so you can limit the cost of hideously overpriced Iceland.

BEWARE: General wallet warning: Rampant profiteering in Iceland. Beware Icelandic prices on just about everything (especially, food, drinks, tours, etc). They try to justify the cost with: Taxes (not dissimilar to other European countries), transportation costs, exchange rates, etc, etc ......... but bottom line is quite straightforward, whilst this will amount to an uplift it is nothing like what you will have to pay. You would have thought that having suffered a banking crash the last thing they want is a tourism crash .......... which is exactly what will happen if they keep this up. Don't be fooled by the tourism press - there are many unique features to see in Iceland but THEY WILL UNJUSTIFIABLY FLEECE YOU FOR IT.

Great location but it comes at a price and I am not talking about Icelandic prices. There are several bars and nightclubs on the street and the noise doesn't stop till after 5am. Unfortunately we stayed here on a Friday and Saturday night so we had it at its worst. The room was large but very basic. There is a small kitchenette and a bathroom that hasn't seen a renovation for twenty years but was adequate. There was nowhere comfortable to sit other than the bed which only had two pillows so it was difficult to prop ourselves up to read a book. We opened one of the windows and the whole window frame almost fell out very dangerous for anyone walking on the street below. Flickering lights and dirty windows were the added bonus. These people do have a lot of units. I think we have just been unlucky. Best to stay away from the Main Street in a quieter area. Central Reykjavik is quite small and very walkable.
