Iceland is a very expensive country, and even poor accommodation is pricey. Hotel Hilda is very reasonable and its a great place to stay. Spacey, light rooms with a trendy Iceandic decor, and a clean pretty building. Avoid staying on the ground floor if you can. But for sub $250 accommodation in the city, this is my first choice.

We were delighted with our stay at the Hotel Hilda. We were greeted as soon as we arrived mid day and our room was ready. At first we were in the basement but you would never know it the window was large and the room was very nice, warm and inviting. The second day Asta asked about our room, she mentioned the heat we said it was warm but not uncomfortable. She said we could move and that we did. It was the very same room up on the third floor. It was cooler and lovely, near a balcony ( which would have been nice to have a folding chair to sit upon). The whole house was very quiet. To me it was more like a bed and breakfast home than a hotel.
We did not have breakfast there although we could have but we found other spots to enjoy our morning meal for same or less price. Roughly 2000isk $24.00 Canadian.
The beds were very comfortable and the linen was changed daily if you wished.
It was probably the least expensive that we found closest to the centre of town.
We would stay there again if we ever return.

This was a quaint hotel in Reykjavik. My room was really nice, with a nice view of the garden. The room also had a towel warmer, which was nice and would be really nice in the winter. We had a few ladies with us who had a challenge with a former knee and foot injury, so the steps leading up to the hotel were tough. Luckily for the rooms, they had an elevator and were very helpful in making sure our "handicapped" ladies had rooms on the main floor. We had an overnight trip to the other side of Iceland, and Hotel Hilda was nice enough to allow us to leave a portion of our luggage (a group of 10) in storage until we returned to stay again the following evening. This hotel is very close to the marina where they have whale watching and puffins tours as well as several harbor restaurants. It is also close to the city center (about a 5-6 minute walk) where many bars, restaurants, and historical landmarks are located. We went in June, so there is virtually no darkness. The block blinds were pretty good in the hotel, but I still needed to use my sleeping mask. Thank you Hotel Hilda for your hospitality.

Delightful hotel and very helpful staff; would certainly stay again on next Iceland visit.
They booked my early morning hotel pick up to the airport - nothing too much trouble for them!
Tasty breakfast and very quiet location.

Small but warm and cozy rooms. Tiny bathroom but clean. Wifi speed is acceptable. Breakfast variety is OK but one should not expect much.
It must have been a B&B and was upgraded to a hotel when they added a 24h reception service. It definitely feels like a B&B. The staff is very hospitable.
It is very close to the city centre and at a safe and peaceful neighborhood.

Room Tip: One should avoid basement rooms especially those near the breakfast room.
