Apologies for long post! But having just returned from our 2 week stay at Pagona, I thought I'd give a review about the flights, Appts and surrounding area. Flew with Thomsons from Gatwick, lovely flight, only delayed 1/2 hr. Arrived at Paphos in seering heat, which stayed between 28-33oc all hols, humidity was a killer (98o some days). Special Assistance team fantastic. Coach transfer to Pagnona but arrived at about 12:15am, so didn't see much in the dark. Greeted by friendly receptionist who went through briefly about room, air con (€6 per day and safe €10 per week extra) safes are in reception, but very safe as you need 2 keys to unlock, one you keep & one reception keep. Bit of a "faff" having to go there each time, but a necessitiy for safety of passport/money/valuables.

Shown to room, I'd requested ground floor poolside room as I've lower mobility problems. Shown to appt A1, which was a studio right next to pool-fantastic. Basic furniture, which could use a "jus up" but everything functional, with kitchenette, slightly offset from lounge. Beds very comfy, but shower (over bath), more like showering under a constant running water tap, so no light mist of water there! Kitchenette had usual fridge, cooker (no microwave), crockery, cutlery etc. Dish towel provided, but no dish cloth. Hand and bath towels are provided, but these are only changed every 3 days. The dish towel was only changed 1 time during our stay. Maid does come in every day to empty bins in kitchen & bathroom (you don't flush toilet paper down pan, you put it in bin (experience I could do without!). Tiled floor lightly brushed each day too. Patio area with white garden chairs/table too. Note, you can smoke in rooms too.

There is a lovely warmed pool, with grassed and concrete area around, with plenty of sun beds which are comfortable, always one available, so really no sun bed chasing to reserve one, but if you want one under one of the 15 or so parasols, you did need to "reserve" them. Little tables between sun beds available too. No chairs around pool area, so I just brought mine from patio each day, as cannot always lie on sun bed (would have been nice to have table & chairs dotted around). Jacuzzi comes on auto 4 times a day, but steps leading to it didn't have a handrail, so didn't personally use(shame, would've like to use it, but access not suitable for less mobile). Shower and small kiddie pool tool. Worth noting that you cannot take your own food/drinks to pool (as numerous notices in appt and around complex tell you!), so you have to order drinks from pool bar or staff who regularly come round to take your order. Pool bar very good, lovely friendly staff, and food very good, cooked to order. All types of food available, even buffet breakfast. Free wifi in Pool bar area and around pool, and if you're lucky enough to have poolside appt, you might get it free too, otherwise there is a daily wifi charge. Wifi is very hit & miss with connection & dropped out frequently. We were lucky to get it free in our appt, so don't know what daily charge was.

Appts are family run, so owners are regularly seen wandering the complex, but always greet you with a cheery hello. Made to feel very welcomed.

Cyprus is known for cat population, so I must mention the 4 furry friends we made on our hols, we named them "Boss cat" (black & white), "Little'un" (small black kitten/cat), "Ginger" (Ginger), and "Fluffy" (tri colour with big fluffy tail). They regularly wander the complex and greet you with a meow, and join you at the bar for a titbit or two! We tried to avoid them the first week, but as cat owners ourselves, resistance was futile, and we gave in and tickles were given. I know we shouldn't have, but the odd piece of meat found its way into their mouths, and sis even bought some tuna, and we fed them in morning & evening, so when opening curtain in morning we usually had "Boss cat & "Little'un" on the patio, waiting to greet us (apologies for new residents in A1 after us, who may get the cats coming to patio!). These 2 really pulled at our heart strings, it was sad to leave them behind, but all cats looked healthy, so they are probably okay. If you see then, please give them a tickle, they aren't always meowing for food, just a friendly hand.

Reviews I'd read before mentioned about mini-market being about 5 mins walk from left out of complex, it was about 15mins walk for me, and felt like 1/2hr walk in humidity (don't go during afternoon-too hot to walk!!). Bar street & Harbour is supposed to be 15-20 mins walk right out of hotel, but too far for me, so we just went to reception & ordered a taxi to Harbour, which came in mins, and although was €8, we always gave €10). Although only about 5-8 mins in taxi, it was muh easier, and in humidity, it was best money spent. After evening at Harbours various restaurants & shops, we went to Advic Taxi office (just round corner from Debenhams/ Theo's Tobacconist & supermarket (Panpantidiou-think it was called). Again friendly lady, and taxi within mins (we didn't even need to say where we were going after a while, we were known as the "Pagona Ladies"), again €10.

We didn't do much sightseeing as this was a chilling hols, but bus station in Harbour if you wanted to go to other locations.

We had a late flight back, coach pickup at 8pm, so as checkout was 12pm, we paid €5 per hour for late checkout fee, they will let you stay in your appt, if nobody using it after you, but as somebody was, we were moved to another ground floor appt (A14), across car park from complex, for the duration , again a studio, but seemed slightly more basic than our original appt.

We really loved Pagona, yes it was basic & could do with a lick of paint here & there, and furniture updating, fairly remote area, (Genisis restaurant & Rugby Arms pub next door- I've reviewed separately on their pages), but we would definitely go again for a chilling hols.

Good for families on a tight budget.
rooms are very basic apartments with a cooker, frige and cleaned daily.
Close to kato paphos tourist area.
Food and cafeteria is average.
Good size pool, situable for lazy days and kids of all ages.
It could use a new facelift

First time in Pagona but it will not be the last. Mister Andreas and his family/staff are absolutely great people. They make sure that everybody is happy in the hotel.
Pathos is very pretty city with lots of culture and lots of pretty sites to visit, not very easy though....because of hot weather..
Saint George church near coral bat is just perfect...Lara bay and rock of aprodite are also great to visit!
Polis (a bit far) is another great place to visit...
Only trouble we had in our holiday is that most of the eating places we try were absolutely terrible. Only night we enjoy was the Wednesday night in Pagona apts.
We will return next year .thank you for good times in your hotel!

Room Tip: Rooms over looking the pool are superb

my friend and I stayed here a few weeks ago and had a great week.

We had a studio apartment, which although was basic, was perfect for us. It was a really good size, comfortable beds, and very good air con. We had to pay extra for the AC but only €6 a day and well worth it as it was very hot.

We loved the pool and the bar offered a lot of variety of drinks and food. Also there is grass areas around the pool with loads of sunbeds and umbrella's. The staff were so friendly, and made us feel so welcome.

There is a supermarket within a few minutes walk of the apartments which is really handy, and the harbour is only about 7-10 minutes walk away so a good central location.

I work in travel and have been to many different places, and the staff here really were some of the friendliest I have met.

On the last day our flight home wasn't until 10pm, we paid €5 per hour for a room that day which was well worth it. Our studio was being used so we were given a one bedroom apartment, which was huge.

would highly recommend and would 100% go back

weather was brilliant, prices were good, Paphos was great

Room Tip: pool view would be best as some tired views surrounding

So...we pulled up in the coach, at night and thought we were in the back of beyond. Bars and restaurants seemed an age away, and we were really apprehensive! However, the Pagona is actually in a brilliant location, as we soon discovered.
The apartments are basic, but have everything you need. Safe and air con are extra, but everything else is provided, except toiletries, although you do get soap. There's a supermarket 5 mins walk away and bars, restaurants etc are about 10 mins. It feels like a friendly, safe place and we didn't mind walking around at night.
The only negative about the Pagona is breakfast. It's pretty much only meat and eggs - however, the Rugby Arms round the corner does a brilliant breakfast, and so do most places in town. Pretty cheap, too!
I'd go back in a second- we had a wonderful time at such a lovely, friendly family run place. Highly recommended.
