Owner description: Domgasse 5 is the only one of Mozart's apartments in Vienna that still exists today. The composer lived in Mozarthaus Vienna in grand style from 1784 to 1787. Nowhere else did he compose more music. Mozarthaus Vienna presents the life and work of the musical genius Wolfgang Amade Mozart, with particular emphasis on his Vienna years from 1781 to 1791, in a unique setting in the heart of Vienna close to St Stephan's Cathedral.

We went there on Christmas Eve. We were afraid that it would close on that day.
We checked several times before leaving our own city (in Asia) on the 23rd but found no special notice about its opening hours on Christmas Eve.
We were there around 5 p.m. and found out that it closed before the usual hour as stated in its website. There were also 5 to 6 other visitors at its entrance and we were all disappointed.

We do hope we have made a mistake by ourselves. If not, the management should look into this case and improve.

Despite the bad reviews here, went there with my friend who was really interested in classical music but we were both disappointed and felt bad for spending our time & money on this museum. I don't recommend this museum because once you enter they don't have anything that belonged to Mozart himself. You are supposed walk around the rooms and "imagine" what that room could have been used for, where Mozart might have done something. They have absolutely no information or facts about that house at all. They just tell you which piece Mozart composed there and some students he taught while living there. The audioguide is included in the price but it is not much help either. For what you get, the tickets are overpriced. There are many other interesting museums in Vienna so I say skip this one, even the musuem shop was boring!

A cramped tiny house on several levels. Beautifully restored with many artefacts at the time. No photos allowed (like inside churches in Assisi). Interesting historically. Worth the visit. Not easy to find.

My friend and I decided to give Mozart’s old apartment an old visit since it was one of the attractions included in the Vienna Pass. It was cool to see some of the artifacts, like sheet music and Mozart’s clothing (not sure if they were real or replicas). However, a lot of the museum was not about Mozart, but about his fellow composers. If this wasn’t included in the Vienna Pass, I probably would not have gone.

The Mozarthaus Vienna was Mozart's residence from 1784 to 1787. This building is his only surviving Viennese residence and is now a museum. The rooms are darkly light and they don't allow for photographs. This museum uses a mix of sight and sound in the exhibits. It has more displays than the Beethoven house and has more rooms. Allow about 1 hour for the visit.
