Stayed here several times before, as it was a good deal and close to the center. Last trip, the yelling on the street kept me awake all four nights. Nothing the hotel can do to control that. Take note though, a neighboring restaurant has an outdoor cafe/bar set up right below the windows.
The aged mattresses were wallowed out, offering no back support whatsoever. I don't mind the threadbare furnishings, but a good mattress is a must, and no longer the state of things here. Breakfast was good, though the service was curt.
Very disappointed with the service. Upon arrival, my wife inquired about Spanish Riding School tickets that were to have been delivered to the hotel for the next day. No one could find them, until a call was made to the ticket office. They asdurred the hotel that they were there. Upon actually looking, the staff found them. The next night, we asked for a recommendation for coffee or a drink, somplace close. We were directed to the 'American Bar', about 500 meters, and seventeen other cafe/ bars away.
On checkout I inquired if the rate was correct, as it didn't match my confirm, and the desk clerk was pretty incensted. I seen that I had made a mistake, and fully apologized, but it didn't seem to matter. I left my spouse in the lobby while I went to fetch a rental car. While I was gone, she was advised that no where she sat was satisfactorily "out of the way". After 20 minutes of waiting, she was then accused of stealing from the room. Thankfully, she did not have to wait longer.
When I returned with the car, neither clerk was available to discuss the matter with me. If these gentlemen had a legitimate beef. Instead, they chose to beat up on a woman. Their families and the owner must be proud.
Sad experience, both from a facilities point of view, and the unhelpful staff. Probably the fallout of a poor economy. I'll miss what the place used to be.
