If you are on business or touristing in Vienna. Conveniently close to tram and subway lines. Their breakfast buffet is very decent as well, and I would give them a "good" instead of an average if TripAdvisor had it...

Stayed: January 2017

I stayed at the Hotel Schwalbe for 1 night for work (business trip). I absolutely love this hotel because it wasn't another faceless corporate chain. The staff were very friendly. I was made to feel at home - a real home away from home.

They lent me a copy of an English language Lonely Planet. They recommended areas to visit, things to see and do and restaurants to eat. They lent me an umbrella for my meeting because it was raining.

The room was huge and felt more like an apartment than an hotel room.

After a day of long trip when my wife and I arrived at this hotel, we were told that we have to share the toilet with other rooms which was quite shocking considering the price range. When we expressed our discontent and asked to change the room calmly, the lady at the reception ‘Felicia’ picked up the phone and called booking.com and canceled out reservation in a very hostile manner. She just got ballistic for no reason whatsoever.
So, we were kicked out of the hotel in the middle of night!
Luckily we found a four star hotel in Vienna’s best neighbourhood for less money.

Booked a lowbudget room - didn't read clearly. Discussing like on a bazar.
We offerd something different.

We want happy guests in our house.
And these guests would never be happy.
The client and the hotel decided to cancel with booking.com.

Instead of a single room, they gave me a free upgrade too a double room, which was really nice and spacious. The hotel is in a very quiet neigbourhood too. Ideal hotel for business trips. Hotel has a nice atmosphere.

We were a big fan of this hotel, it's well run with incredibly welcoming and friendly staff. We also enjoyed the dog and the rabbit!

Breakfast is fresh and lovely, all the food is sourced from local suppliers and you can definitely taste the difference. The rooms are also very big with plenty of room to put your things, the toilet isn't actually in the room (it's in the hallway) but we didn't find this a problem at all as they were always nice and clean.

The hotel is in an area at the end of one of the train lines in Vienna, but it really wasn't a problem as it only takes 15 minutes to get into the center. Plus the trains are very regular, and a week pass is only 17 euros - so it doesn't work out more expensive in any way.

The only bad points I have are that they could do with some new, plumper pillows on the beds, as they were quite flat. Also the wifi is a bit temperamental - but we soon figured out if you just stand a bit closer to the hallway in your room it works much better, so it didn't turn out to be a big problem.

Very nice, homely hotel! Would definitely recommend it.
