Pho was great!
However, grilled shrimp paste skewer was just ok. They provided too small amount of vegetables and sauce. Shrimp paste was mixed with too much fat. Service was standard and price was reasonable.

Saigon has a booth at the Vienna Film Festival on the City Hall Square (Rathausplatz), and on two occasions when I met my husband for lunch I ordered the exact same dish, Basil Chicken with Vegetables.

The first order was marginal, with a slightly larger vegetable to meat ratio than I would expect. The dish was flavorful enough, though. Because I like Basil Chicken in general, a couple of weeks later I ordered the dish again. Big mistake. I counted four small pieces of chicken (one not fully cooked) drowning in a sea of onions, with few other vegetables to balance the dish. The rice was hard and cold on the edges, as if it had been plated hours beforehand.

I know not to expect the same attention to a dish at a food festival compared to it being served in the restaurant, but I also know when a restaurant cuts corners to appeal to a larger customer base. I feel for those who dine here during the last week of the festival; they might only receive a dish of onions!

My husband and I like sampling the variety of cuisines at the festival, and have found several places whose regular restaurants we have enjoyed meals at. With Saigon, though, we will not entertain a "third strike."

I was staying in Mercure hotel and they suggest me this excellent restaurant. Very delicious Vietnam kitchen. Owner of this restaurant was very polite and nice woman. I asked her for best steak restaurant and she suggest me Block House in Vienna. Thanks a lot!!!

Came here after reading all the great reviews on a rainy April day. The place is big, nicely decorated and very clean. Staff too are friendly and efficient. Large and diverse menu. The food though was nothing special - pretty bland to be honest and compared to similar places not well spiced or seasoned in my opinion. No one in the group were particularly impressed and we all had diverse dishes.
